Well not cal-look but interesting.

Tour de France Automobile 1951, a french home-made speedster on a split-window pan, with the 1131cc engine.
Build by Colucci (driver) and Marsan (co-driver)
38th overall at the end of the 5239km race, 1st edition of the event.

Nice a Nice via Ostende and Geneve. Those old races look like so much fun, but they were hard work too no doubt. Must have been quite a feat just to finish.
37th out of 98 starters isn't bad, almost put's in the top 1/3rd with the Jag's, Porsche's and Ferrari's!

I have no other information about the car or about drivers, and only one picture of it. Seems that it's the only race the car ever ran, and then it dissapeared. I've searched on the internet but I didn't find more.

Grin Grin Grin Fabian  The Tour De France Automobile is one of the oldest car race in the world. If not the oldest.

It started in 1899 yes 1899 !!!!! It was organised by the Automobile Club De France .

The Automobile Club De Nice took over in 1951 after the war and just forgot about the past  Shocked Shocked Shocked

It was run for the last time in 1986 . It is run from 1992 on as an Historic Event.

After being in the organisation of the historic event from 1992 to 2002 I participated in my ex  work Alpine renault in 2003 .

A unique event with road, track & special stages. A great souvenir.

Race number is a tribute to Danny Ongais, one of my favorite driver  Wink

Cheers

Eric
