Like this . . .

They miss your year, but you might be able to use the early one and drill some holes to screw it on with the latch screws.

if you can find two 6mm 411 oil cooler studs and find/fab some kind of pretty tubular spacer, you can make a nice standoff using the orig VW latch. To keep the tubes from marring apron, use two VW 111821545 running board-to-fender grommets.

Or you can just use some long bolts and spacers with your original latch. A 66 latch is spaced out a little more and works good too.

A 65-66 latch is spaced out a little more and works good too.

That's what I used, but I extended the bottom so the rubber bumper would have something to bump against.

Hey guys thanks for the ideas.
I do have some type 4 studs.
I'll give the spacer trick a try.
Cool.

I'm trying to find a better picture, but this is the Vintage Speed stand off for a '67.  It's stands it off approx. 3.5-4".

That's how I need mine to be.
I've got some of the other type that fit on the hinges but when it rains
the motor gets wet.
The other reason i'm after 1 of these is cause I've got a type 4 motor in it with a stainless header and muffler.
the header and muffler being stainless gets proper hot,so the back valance stand off will allow the heat to escape and hopefully wont heat soak the engine.
56blitz got it right.
They don't do for 1 for a 67.
I recon there's a bit of a market for ones that fit a 67.
So who can make me 1 out of ally or stainless.
Thanks G

Here is the one I made for my 67. Aluminum bar stock, and some aluminum hex turn buckles I found at a hardware store. Drilled and re-tapped for 6mm hardware. It's 2.625" (67mm) tall. [attachment=1]
It Maybe a bit crude, but it cost $15.00 to make. And you can still lock your deck lid
