I don't think he said you were from Spain?

Quer is a municipality located in the province of Guadalajara, Castile-La Mancha, Spain. According to the 2004 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 449 inhabitants.

Damn, I was just telling someone the other day of how much I hate it when somebody gets the idea of butchering a VW by stuffing a V8 in the front.  I liken it to that Mustang in Tokyo Drift that had a Nissan engine or something crammed in there.

You might check out the www.shoptalkforums.com site, they have a "conversion perversions" forum (no joke, that's the actual name) as they are likely to be a bit more friendly toward engine swaps than us hardcore VW folk.  Most of here share the view that V8 engines belong in V8 cars.

HUH? Um, no. I used the word "query."

que • ry

~noun

1. a question; an inquiry.
2. mental reservation; doubt.
3. Printing. a question mark (?), esp. as added on a manuscript, proof sheet, or the like, indicating doubt as to some point in the text.
4. an inquiry from a writer to an editor of a magazine, newspaper, etc., regarding the acceptability of or interest in an idea for an article, news story, or the like: usually presented in the form of a letter that outlines or describes the projected piece.
–verb (used with object)
5. to ask or inquire about: No one queried his presence.
6. to question as doubtful or obscure: to query a statement.
7. Printing. to mark (a manuscript, proof sheet, etc.) with a query.
8. to ask questions of.

Here's a lousy picture of my '68 SS350 Camaro.

Back to the topic at hand, however, I've always thought V8 powered bugs were ridiculous. The only "cool" way I've seen it done is funny car style with a tube chassis and a fiberglass body.

I'm sensing reverse psychology, here. So... you ARE interested in a 3-way.

 ;D

Oh, I'm sorry... were we supposed to be talking about butchering air-cooled engines?

There... now this thread is fixed. Play nicely... I'm off to work.

Does this car still exist?I remember a feature in a magazine ('80s),but that bug was white & there was also a v8-Notchback in it.
I believe it was a Salooncar-championship in the UK.  :)

The (in)famous Bross Beetle. Built by Mick Hill, then raced by Doug Niven, bought by Geoff Halliday and track tested by me at Donington in 1981. Awesome memorable experience! The car was based on a Trojan F5000 chassis with 350 Chevy bolted up to a Hewland five-speed. Car was very successful in the Super Saloon series but the last I heard was that, due to the increasing value of period F5000 cars, its chassis was converted back to its original format and the car now 'exists' as a restored Trojan...

When it was white, it was sponsored by Autocavan, then the UK's leading VW performance shop (boy, how we all miss that place...) whose owner, Geoff Thomas, later owned a Lola T300 F5000 car, which he let me drive at Goodwood a couple of times. Big Chevy on open pipes a foot behind your head, four 48IDAs.... It was like being in heaven, and the closest thing to driving a period Formula One car I will ever get. :)
