Title: Ignition's
Post by: Sander/DVK on February 10, 2007, 17:37:43 pm
Volkswagen have used a lot of different ignitions.
Witch strange ignition do you know?

I bought yesterday a Bosch 010 ignition (left on the picture). The right ignition I allready got, but I have no idea where it comes from or what ages it is. Its looks very much to the 010..

I *think* that is a 36hp distributor on the right.

Do you think? The stock engines have always a vacuümbox, isnt it?

Wasn´t the 010 also found stock on early T2 engines?

Not always.

the 010 was used on the beetle from 49 till 53 25HP engine and the bus from 55 till 59

and yes there are distributors without the can (vacuum)

the other one is from a beetle from 49 till 53 also, so it is possible that it is a very similar part, but i don't think so... but it might.
what i think it is after some more research is that the other one is actually comparable to a 019. that is also a good distributor, but maybe better on smaller engines.

maybe others can fill in more than i can at the moment.

I thought that the 019 was used on type 2's from 55-59, and the 010 was a 1960 bus item. As far as I know, neither came on beetles.

i thought that too... it was always said to me to be a bus item, it also has a bus vw number on it. 211... but that is what i found. not sure if all that is correct,

but i do know that a lot of similar parts have come under different numbers and 'editions', for instance a guy here in belgium has 4 different models of the 64 only type 3 S distributor that seems to be so good...

i just looked at the bosch number and looked it up and it seems to be a 019...

maybe you can send the question to GLENN (us cal-look) he knows about it i am sure.

I think it's a 25hp distributor, it has a similar curve to the 010, but it's an older model which if I am not mistaken doesn't have bushings for the shaft or something like that.
