Title: M&H 215 vs 235 tires
Post by: Erlend / bug66 on September 08, 2016, 23:14:59 pm
Hi

Is there anyone that has any first hand knowledge between the tires? They have the same compound, and I think I could benefit from slightly wider tires. Need new tires anyway, so why not upgrade if the wider ones are "better"..

Tires in question are:

215 - http://www.mandhtires.com/M-H-Racemaster-Street-and-Strip-Drag-Slicks/P215-65-15#.V9HhbWBki00

235 - http://www.mandhtires.com/M-H-Racemaster-Street-and-Strip-Drag-Slicks/P235-60-15#.V9HhcGBki00

Thanks  :)

The 215's can put quite a bit of power down, what are your goals? Fitting them in a stock fender will be a challenge.

9s with a sreet car :)

I don't think the actual fitting will be any problem.

I just noticed that even 235 width is 'just' 7,5"
I went from 6"x26-15 slick to a 8,5"x24,5x15 and thought it was a nice upgrade, especially because of the lower sidewalls of the 8,5" (felt more stable).
Still, compared to a true 8,5" slick, you're still a full ince less wide...

So, I think 235 would help, but not that much with 400 rwhp on tap.
New tires will help always though  ;)

I'm not sure if 8/8,5" full slicks can be fitted under stock width fenders.

235 could be fitted, it'll be tight, but doable. :)

Nice to have a full winter to decide! :D

I have the 235s on my 67. They fit my car perfect. There are a couple pics on the stance thread.

I have 215/65 M&H Dots on a street car, they fit fine under stock fenders on a 67, been caught in the wet a couple of times, that's fun.

What width wheel will 325 need?

The Dots get quite warm, quite quickly. Given the way I'm finding I enjoy the car, I suspect I might return to a summer road tyre and keep a set of these for "special" occasions.

This will need some serious wheel... :D

Mine are on 6" wheels, equal offset, short axle, they were on 356 drums. when I made my brake hubs i made the offset on the brake the same as the 356 drums. If I were to redo my car I'd love to narrow the rear (no torsion raise) and run the same tire on an 8" wheel to stretch it out a bit like a 10.5 car.
