The semi-hemi chamber shape reduces quench and turbulence and will make the engine more sensitive to detonation. I like everything except those heads.

I certainly respect what you say but,
i have raced with semi hemi heads for over ten years running 11.6 comp on 98 octane pump fuel.
Never had a problem with pinging or tuning.
It all comes down to the engine builders knowledge and the right combo of parts.
Please don,t turn this thread into a semi hemi head debate.
Good luck with your engine cedric.

Well...someone solicited opinions. Please accept my apology for writing something so grievously unpopular; I didn't get the memo about when and how to respond. Please advise.  Wink

I never wrote that a SH chamber will de-facto make an engine hard to tune or detonate. I merely observed that it impairs certain beneficial dynamics and makes the engine more sensitive to detonation. These are principles that Harry Ricardo revealed nearly 100 years ago. They're as relevant now as they were then.

As for arguments, I could care less. It was just a simple statement.
