Title: Jürgen Nowak billet camshafts
Post by: Lukej on November 07, 2022, 22:42:25 pm
Looking for feedback on these cnc billet cams.

My 2276 currently has an fk10. 11:1cr. 42x37 heads 1 5/8" exhaust. 45mm itbs and efi.
The heads are mini wedge style mofoco heads but I'll be switching to 44x37 ultra mag plus heads when I swap the cam.
I much preferred how the engine drove with a Web 86b at 10.2:1 but now everything seems out of stock and I'm a suckered for light valve train and single springs I'm thinking of trying the JN5 from Nowak with their 54g lifters

JN5 is 10mm cam lift 312°/258° @0.050"

The 86b I really enjoyed was 300/260@0.050"

I've read many times that the engle FK series make great torque due to the fast ramps (287°/258° @0.050" on the fk44) but what does that mean for the super gentle Nowak that takes 25° more to get to 0.050"

I think you mean the FK4- series make more torque... not all FK cams are created equal. and yes in general the FK4- series deliver more torque within the engle range. but fast ramps also create greater strain on the lifter bores. on my engine I bushed the lifter bores. no issues since.

I made my own at the time. not sure what is available now to do it. yes I bushed an original case. to make the oil galleries align I did make a groove all the way around the bushing and that still works after all these years. I may have one extra of which I could take a picture for reference if you want.
