HI fOLKS,

I am gathering all the parts for my motor project.

So,what's bothering me,Is there too much clearence work needed when using I-beam rods with 82mm crank? I mean If I buy an already clearenced case, how much more?

Any cam clearence?

Thes particular rods I have is a new set of Scat 5.394 stock lenght I-beams with 3/8'' ARP 2000 bolts.

You can buy a reclearanced cam in just about any grind which clears up to 86mm stroke, what cam are you planning on running?a pre clearanced case should clear you set up easily, still have to check though, are you using VW rod journals or chevy?if chevy you may even get away without a clearanced cam Smiley

Hey Richie,

Thanks for the help.

Rods are VW journal.

I have 44 IDF's to put on,I don't have the heads or the cam jet.I was thinking of  WebCam 86b!What do you say?I was always fancying the FK-8,but lot's of guys say that Webcam is a much better grind,so I thought of going this direction. And Wbcam 86b is pretty similar to the K8,isn't it?Or maybe Webcam 86A is enough for me.

I plan to buy heads from Darren at DRD Racing heads. He does some amazing port work.I was thinking only of a Level 5 heads,so I coul have a strong driver, for ocassional strip action. But,If you guys convince me maybe I step up to something more serious.

But you must know that I still want to keep this I-beams,and I know they are not for too High RPMS.

I just put together my 82x94 motor with scat I beam 5.394 vw journal rods. Cam was a fk 46 and there was no clearancing needed. I had a fk 44 installed and the cam had to be clearance slightly since the big end of the rod wound hit it at bdc. but other than that , do your regular checks and you should be alright.
