I've been working alongside Quaife Engineering for a while, not on the engineering side though, and always try to push VW ideas through. Speaking with them this week I find out they're in the process of producing a ATB Helical LSD for the 091 box. I've also been told that the more enquires they get about this diff, the quicker it will go into production, so if you're interested give them a call or drop them a line via their website:

I've got a quaife in my 55 and would love to have one for my bus box! I guess I'll hold off on the pelican.

^^that seems like a contradiction? I thought it could either be a Torque Biassing Diff (helical/worm gears)  OR  a Limited Slip Diff (LSD, friction plates), not both at the same time?
So, which is it?

Unlike a conventional plate-style limited slip differential, the Volkswagen Beetle 37T spline IRS Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential relies on gears rather than clutch plates for its operation. That means it is much smoother in operation.

Interesting, Pretty much similar design with the helical gears. Now if I am not wrong, there are also some diferences that Peloquin claims are superior in his design.
This one is pretty much like the Peloquin and the type 1 is at €750
If they come out with a 091 unit it will be interesting to see if it similarly priced. If that is the case, it is good.
The Peloquin 091 is USD 1220 and that is today €890

This is a one man operation with a lot of successful results to prove his products. Now to compare it with Quaife, no idea.
I am very happy with my 091 unit the three seasons I have used it on the track.

You have been using the Pelican for 3 seasons on the drag strip? How well does it handle the burn out? I know Bob H. Didn't like his IRS Queife doing burn outs. I've not sen the side to side shake he had with my swing axle yet.

That means it is much smoother in operation.
How is a clutch type LSD un-smooth?

Nope, doing this. Now I am drag racer in soul so I have intention to do that too on the local strip......one day.
Gearbox is  a nice KCR 091 with Berg intermediate housing.
