Title: late bug fuch fitting?
Post by: Chubbygreen on January 28, 2016, 22:55:38 pm
Hi guys just have a large problem at the moment bought a set of 5x130 fuch wheels 5.5 x 2 and 6 x2 so idea was to have 6's at the back and 5.5s at front, but the problem seems arch clearance, not only that but I will have to run adaptors and I have disks all round so yeh bit tricky unless someone has already overcome this, few ideas I had were.
Run early beetle axles to get the wheels under the arch, but unsure what the pre 67 beetles stud patterns were if they matched with Porsche ones or not, or get the drums redrilled and go back to drums if thats easier?  ::) fairly new to this so please give me a chance and look forward for replies if possible cheers.

You need to lose the adapters, i take it you have a late 4 stud pattern brake set up?  If so the front can be changed to porsche pattern by replacing the discs with porsche pattern 5x130 pcd discs. The rear could be just as easy depending on what type of disc conversion you already have. Or you could switch to drums on the rear drilled to porsche pattern.

I don't think those ^^^ would do as they mention a conversion kit and at £290 I think it is.

If you have stock VW front discs, you can replace them with these: http://www.machine7.com/product.php?xProd=1631&xSec=981

Found these for the rear, but I'd be talking to M7 about your rears. http://www.machine7.com/product.php?xProd=1664&xSec=1654

Do you know the disc conversion and what was used?

It would help if you could post pics of your brake set up. Varga are standard replacement discs for post 68 bug, you can get them in porsche pcd pattern. Its your rear disc set up that may cause issues, nothing insurmountable though. More info needed in order for folk to help
