I don't know if I'm communicating with an old salty sea dog or some pimple faced wanker. A little more info would help.. we're people here! Not just avatars and car pic's. I can understand if you have something to hide, like that pederasty conviction. Otherwise a name, where you live...general stuff--nothing specific, I'm listening/talking to you, not your car,ET,Bore x stroke or personal credo/motto/quotation. It was years ago that a friend of mine on another forum suggested using real names instead of strange, internet, camoflouge names. I still think that is a good thing. You're right, we really don't know who a large portion of the folks here are.....Sometimes we think we know them and then find out otherwise.

August, Uncle Sam wanted me to go to "work' for him. Served my country proudly for 4 years. Got VW training in Wolfsburg Germany. Worked as a VW/Porsche Audi mechanic for many years. Built a 1969 Porsche 2.0 ltr powered bug about 19 years ago with my son as a father/son project (still have the car). Currently, I am building a '69 Squareback with a tube chassis, Mustang II front suspension, sbc350/330hp hooked to a 700R4 trannie. Post by: Fiatdude on December 28, 2009, 17:24:57 pm The Inland Empire is the San Bernardino/ Riverside area (some of the surrounding areas gets sucked in) If you have a map of SoCal it is generally the area enclosed by the 210 / 15 / 91 / 215 FRWYs OR The non-Desert areas of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. In the Way Back there was a pretty destinct non-developed area seperating the IE from LA and OC. Now there are houses piled upon houses with no non-developed areas LOL
This use to be the 714 area code then they cut S. B. / Riv. counties off that and gave it to Orange Co. and we were the 909. Then a while ago they gave Riv. Co their own area code the 951. SO NOW the IE is basically the 909/951 area codes. The Desert areas of SB/Riv are in the 760 area codes. -- WOW did I over explain this or what LOL Title: Re: Who are you? I started driving aircooled VW 10 years ago, started with a ´61 sedan, then purchased a ´66 sedan to restore, but sold it to fund a purchase of my first VW Type 181. In the meantime I used an ´84 mexican sedan as a daily driver. My first type 181 was stolen in 2007 so I purchased another one. Also I dont have an aircooled as a dailydriver anymore.
Ass years pass by I lean towards cal-look style more and more so my next car will probably a clean cal-look bug. I try to impersonate some basic ideas of cal-look to my type 181. I work as a sales rep for the living, started with Hewlett-Packard printing and imaging devices but as of January I´m going into completely different business. I drink beer and rum (separately), I enjoy learning VWs and building my new engine, I enjoy taking care of my weekend house and I really like to cook and eat good food. to two boys I got custody of in 90-91. My oldest is an Army SGT stationed in Germany, My youngest works for T.S.A. - Dept of Homeland Security @ Ontario Airport. I was once President of DVB, waay back in late 70's. Hooked my buddy SHUBEE on the air cooled wonder & thanks to this site found him again after many years. Have owned a 69 auto stick / converted to stick w / 1835 & 42's-- my first "looker". Had a 64 with REAL EMPI's & 356 brakes, built trans & Kadrons. Loved that car. Had a 67 fastback for a while before buying a 71 bus. The bus got tube bumpers and Kadrons -- had a huge sunroof which led to a bunch of guys "navigating" a rally hanging out the roof !! Currently own a stock / resto/ survivor 67, been garaged since 86. But now I'm driving it every day. (Thanks Bruce) I'm a partsman for a trucking co that hauls new Honda cars from The port in San Diego to dealers. I've played Pro Football/Soccer and after that 27 years with VW/Audi and then with Independant VW/Audi/Porsche Companies as a business consultant. That said I like to take things rather easier nowadays. I'm currently living in Budapest (Hungary) with my Beautiful wife Eva and teaching English to Children...... I have one daughter ( Laura) who is 18. Well,I'm Jonathan a 31 year old paintsprayer from Chesterfield,England I've been into Volkswagen's since my Dad bought me the April '91 Volksworld magazine with Keith Seume's No mercy feature in it. Its amazing the impact a car like that can have on a 12 year old boy! I got my first bug at 14 and my current '65 in 1997.Unfortunately the '65 has been off the road for a long time now,but this site has given me the enthusiasm to do something about that! I need to get the 912 I bought at Pomona a couple of years ago finished first. Hope I can make some positive contributions to the site.Thanks guys.
