Title: Moment of Silence
Post by: SlingShot on September 01, 2009, 14:32:26 pm
It looks like the Station Fire in California has no mercy, not even for vintage VW's  :(

Yep, that fire is a nightmare! 105,000 acres burned and counting. I hear if you were to drive the perimeter of the burn area, it would be a 150 mile trip...

God bless the Firefighters, first responders, etc that are involved in these disasters...

I live in the CA High Desert about 60 miles NE of the fire and our air quality is horrible right now... the crummy cell phone pic was last night's sunset :-\

Yes, it’s very sad to see this happen. The Fires are redundant though, there will be one next year and probably the year after that. Maybe Arnie will use some of the infrastructure stimulus and put a sprinkler system grid in all of southern California. ;)

How do you guys expect me to convince my wife to move back to SoCal if you keep burning the place down?

sheesh,

Yes it has been a bad one for all air-cooled cars it seems.

Our hearts go out to the families of the two brave firefighters who lost their lives on the fire line.
We go thru the high fire risk areas like La Canada/Flintridge several times a year. At some point in time
you have to ask...Why do people live here? It burns they rebuild...It burns they rebuild. Same for Malibu
Canyon etc, etc. I don't have the answers, just questions.

Very sad that that those two firefighters lost their lives. Prayers going out to their families and friends.

 :(

The fire line on this thing is huge. Gotta be one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) L.A. county fires. They're saying that it won't be contained till September 15th. That's a rather scary statement. I hope they get it done before that.

Speaking of fires... I just got notified that I'm going north to help with the situation. Wish me well. I might be away from a computer for the next week or so.

Play nice, kiddies.

I guess you could ask why anybody would live in the Midwest with tornados every year, or the east coast with hurricanes from July to November,  but they continually rebuild in those disaster areas every time
