now you can Register your Show and shine entry or your dragracer (or register for both if you want to compete in both, ah, slalom, swapmeet, miss contest etc, whatever you want to do Register yourself!

a "swapmeet miss contest" is that for the swingers amongst us?  ;D

How tough will they inspect according to the tech? My car is OK according to SHRA and even NHRA rules down to 10.00 but doesn't pass this reglemet due to lack of scatter shield and I only have a roll bar. OK, I can always tell that my car is slower than it is...
Are mufflers really reqired? I have a muffler but I LOVE stingers!

hmmm... seems whenever I speak about VW with anyone lately the conversation always include bugin europe.... funny how that goes...

well well, sofar (after 2 days) we have over 100 aplications to go on the Dragstrip! depending on howmany want to play we may review our plans and alow more racers but then we'll plan out something with a more categorized racing... run cars in groups of 50 or so to keep staging times down... (any sugestions? input always welcome!)

would like to point out that those who are wanting to race and show off your car too in the show and shine, or have a go at the slalom too, then you need to fill out inscription forms for each seperate part of the event, this will then intitle you to access stickers to all these area's, non registered will all park together in the Aircooled parking :-) no waterpumpers will be around to spoil our pictures!

at the moment we got 148, yes 148 aplications for Dragracing allready!!! do keep registering your cars asap, also if you want to enter your racecar into show and shine fill out both forms, you will need to have access stickers to both dragstrip + Show and shine.

massive responce, and if i look at the list there's racecars (only aircooled! maybe we'll invite some musclecars to play with :-) but they would have to look periode!) from all over Europe!
and fast ones too! one sub 9 sec, and a whole bunch who should run 10s!!!  :-)

and for those who participate in Racing or Show and shine and turn out to be Winners... we'll have BUG IN Trophy's + Gift certificates + Magazine subscriptions etc...

It is not like kidding. I think it is the best way to get everyone a chance to win in his class . Since we don't have different classes like you in the UK there are many different cars in one class. Do you like to race headsup against an 11 sec. car ?  I would like to have special classes and races only for VW's here in this area  but we need someone who does the organisation for a championship. Since the last years we have enough cars and tracks for races , but for now I think Bracket racing is the best.

In bracket classes everybody can make his own best ET's  and getting faster each year. If you have special classes headsup is no problem . It was only a suggestion for the event. If you look at Spa when  a 15 sec car has to race against an 11 sec car headsup it makes no sence and has nothing to do with racing.

Show and Shine or slalom Registrations recomended too (but not such a big problem if you haven't done that yet, the Racing is what we need to get sorted out asap!)

If the OSL , who makes the timing does the inspection it will be not funny , only more serious . In bitburg we try to let oll cars on the track , if it is not too unsave like missing firewalls in the front or rear . The inspectors do not sleep .

But if the inspectors will be serious many cars won't be able to race, I'm thinking particularly to the original gassers with their unsafe roll-bars or others with scotch-tape to support the front lights.

We know about this and I saw more and more cars in bitburg getting faster with cars in very bad condition . I think if we have an official Inspektor from FIA or NHRA like in America 30% of the cars would not race !  I don't know why people build big engines without having a car for it .  ???

I read the reglement one more time and was relieved, the NHRA rules does apply.
Qoute:
At technically substantive conflicts we refer regulations of the NHRA. to the original sport compact.

The sport compact reglement says:
Flywheel shield:
Exceptions to this rule: Cars with Volkswagen and Porsche engines
are not required to have a shield when the engines are normally
aspirated and gasoline burning.

guys, don't worry, the Timing/Inspector crew know what's up.. they have been briefed and understand our cars... ok, if a car is totaly Unsafe it will not pass inspection! but they will be a litle bit blind to make it all work, this doens't mean you don't have to build a safe car, make sure your seat and rollbar are properly attached to the car, just like our batery and seatbelts! recing is cool, but dangerous too... so BE SAFE!!!!!!

Tonight we put a cap on it, over 300Pre Inscriptions were turned in for aprooval, tonight we end it, 250 chosen ones will be alowed on the Racetrack, i hope we can manage it all spacewise and stagingtimes etc... but it should be all worth it, and Remember the Racetrack is open 3 days!! Dragracing will start fridaymorning and go till Sunday afternoon! :-)

so expect an email from us in the next 7 to 10 days to finalise your inscription.

Hey Mauro,
not a problem, we'll get you a towcar access sticker for your buddies pickup, it'll be a bit like the last few years at Bitburg, after a load of the cars have made their passes we bring them all back (groups of 50 or so) so no cooling needed and your chasecar will be alowed :-)

about the Show and Shine registrations, we still have space, once we have the 500 cars we need we will send out confirmations, so for the moment it is normal you still did not get any email about it, you will get it in the next 4 weeks, trying to manage the racers and the pro-traders, up next is Swapmeet and Show and Shine Participants.

This morning i read:

Rollcage mandatory below 13s/400m, and on all cars that use Nitrous oxide systems, blowers or turbo chargers.

mandatory for Convertibles or Altered roofs (roof chops) below 14.5s/400m below 12s/400m a 6 point cage is required.


My car is a '62 ragtop and run 12,8 with slicks; so i need to install a rollcage to come AND run to EBI......that makes me €%@ a little bite but ok...secutity first

The question is which rollcage will be tech approuved:  a 4 points bugpack style or something FIA approuved or even something else?

Small Update:

421 Cars are Registered for Show and Shine!!!  so 79 more Spaces Available! Register now, only those pre-registered get to Camp on site!

there is NO EXTRA Participation fees for Show and Shine!!! just fill out the form if you want to Show Off your Ride!!!

Slalom will take place on a nice asphalt parkinglot (60mX30m i think, not so bit but should be fun) 30 have registered for the Slalom, so not much space there anymore.

the Tradervillage is filling up nicely, and i would sugert that if you want to Trade at EBI you contact us NOW!

Swapmeet there is a few 1000m2 of space for that and thet should be plenty. the field for offroad has been rented from a local farmer aswell :-)

If you have Registered for Dragracing and have not recieved a confirmation and payment instructions for your Racingfee then please mail me asap.
those who have not payed yet, please do so before the deadline or we will have to give your spot to people from on the backup list, we will have the racetrack professionaly prepared with pro's putting down rubber and glue, this costs a small fortune, so please send us your money now we need it..

At your Dragracing infos and inspection info there is something to read that every driver needs a driverslicence . What about those who have no licence ?  On real races you sometimes can get a licence for one or two days .

hey, at the moment we got 507 applications! 481 i have selected sofar! so 19 cool rides to go :-)

once all are in i close the possibility to pre register (these selected people can in they wish camp on site on their designated campsite) i will email all the selected show and shine entrants probably next week and give them the possibility to buy their admission tickets on pre-sale so you save time at the gates... (traffic will be diverted in Chimay, the flow will lead everyone to one entrypoint, expect a trafficjam! no a Bug Jam :-) there will be 80 to 100 people there on hand to make it all go smooth, it's our First Show like this, what goes wrong this year we'll try to better next year :-) looking forward to it)

Just sorted my car insurance so i can drive on foreign soil, just waiting for tickets to arrive and away we go.

I'm feeling a little left out now, due to a strike in the post offices around my hometown I haven't received any post the last week and a half...  I want my tickets too :-[
