Title: Deciding on CR for rebuild
Post by: RUSS74GHIA on September 09, 2009, 22:18:30 pm
OK, so here's the question, how do I decide what CR to aim for?

Here's the spec so far;

1914cc, 12lb flywheel, kennedy 1, pro-grip disc, fully balanced. match-weighted & polished VW rods.

1.25 rockers, Engle W-140, chromo pushrods. Modified VW heads with 35.5 x 40 stainless valves, double spring, chromo retainers. 40 Dells with 34 vents

The chambers are currently at 56cc for 8:1, but the car has now been retired from daily use and I can now go a bit more ballsy with the CR. would I be right in thinking that my stock rods will ultimately dictate the CR and hold it down to about 10:1, but how would I decide?

Stock rods can handle quite a bit of hp, I'd say 10:1 is a minimum!

Sounds like you'll have a real screamer there! :o
