Title: Rockers question
Post by: xbacax on September 11, 2009, 21:46:36 pm
hi,

this is my first post here, so I would like to say hallo :) this forum is awesome and it is my everyday visit point ;)

well, I'm in a middle of unpopular Mexican fuel injected project. every step I take is another piece of experience. I've already changed the original heads to DRD L3, put Engle w100, nothing spacial to be honest. it has 62 HP 4500RPM and 102Nm 3700RPM almost stock, but last time on local races it left behind two 1776 cars and was first in >1600 class ;) runs 11,94 on 1/8 mile and 17,663 on 1/4 mile ;)

but anyway, this is my question
as I said before the peak of power is now on 4500rpm (I have Engle w100 cam) how would it change if I add 1.25 rockers ? will the dyno show some more ponnies ?

sorry for this lame question, but I'm new in this business, and want to learn as much as possible

thank You very much

best wisches

1.25 rockers might help. What are you using for carb(s)?

the intake system remain stock, except air filter. single throttle body and 4 injectors over the head ports. Lack of air is the problem, but in next year I plan to change it to VWSPEEDSHOP double throttle bodies ;)

The rockers will probably make little or no difference now, your restriction is the intake. So put the dual throttle bodies on there first, then some 1.25's.

Quick for a 1600! Any pictures of your car?

I was thinkin of the same thing for my 1641cc BUT I was advised against it due to more load being placed on the valvetrain,

You can gain ALOT more with only minor headporting ;)

Here's my new ports - the look almost "stock" but trust me they don't perform like stock  ;)

hi,

sorry for this digging up but .... I have those throttle boddies instaled, and now my friend is working on Megasquirt.

and my question is ...

what do you think about adding the 1,25 rockers now, when I've already solved the stock intake problem ??
and how about performance gain ??

thank you.
cheers my friends

I'd put the rockers on now. The hp increase won't be huge (4? 5? 6?) but it will make more power throughout the rpm range and you will get more flow out of the heads. Some people will say ratio rockers  aren't worth it, but they aren't expensive and if you get more power....
