Title: '63 roof chopped ghia
Post by: ianmac on September 19, 2009, 22:09:38 pm
Who remembers this car ?

I was fortunate to persuade the previous owner to part with it in an unfinished state, a cool car IMO built in the late nineties, shown and featured but never completed and driven. My plans are to get it complete for 2010, I uncovered it today and started the reassembly process, loads of work to be done. ;D

I will post some better photos soon, but a sneek preview

Thanks- yeah came with no motor or box, so I have transplanted the rancho box from my old '63 beetle into it and have my old IDA 2276cc motor which I have freshened up with some new Jeff D 44x37 heads, I reckon the car is pretty light so it should go good.

There is loads of work to be done, I fitted the box yesterday and will start on building the front beam, I have an adjustable alu beam that came with the car and intend to build up with some CSP discs.

The car is quite mad in a very subtle way, the more you look at it the more mods appear, the floor pans have been dropped, but I might play with the suspension to bring the back end up slightly so that it has a bit more of a rake to the stance, it needs to be driveable can't be doing with the ass scraping along the floor. I have got some different wheels for it, but I won't say anymore until I get it rolling then I will post some pics to see what you guys think ;D
