Title: Vintage Buggy Racing Pics
Post by: louisb on October 07, 2009, 17:50:18 pm
I am looking for vintage, read old, pics of Manx type buggies racing, preferably off road. I have found a few on the net, mostly of Meyer's Big Red Manx. If anyone has some they would like to share I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Those are cool thanks. Trying to get a feel for how racing buggies from the late '60s & early '70s were equipped. Trying to figure out how I want to accessorize my Manx is all.  :)

Thanks,

Thought yours was for sale?

Kind of thinking something like this without all the stickers. Maybe a single rally strip offset to one side. I also want to add some off road lights but don't want to mount them to the top/roll bar. Was thinking about the front tube bumper.

Hey louis, yeah it is still kinda for sale but no one's buying  :-\ Plus if I do sell it has to be for the RIGHT money  ;)

Anyway I still have way too many idea's - roll bar, custom "auxilary" fuel tanks, stickers, tires, airfilter, wheels etc etc etc

Also that Blue one has given me a few new ideas - I love the "Baja look"  ;D you would never have guessed  ;)

I might have a colour pic of the 3rd one (glitter bug) its in one of the dune buggy books here in the UK - If you really want I could send you over all my James hale/UK buggy books there are some cooooool pic's in there  :) (PM me)

I was also gonna say - I have done more than my fair share of research over the years and ALL these pic are new to me  :o where are you finding them all ???

Not a racing pic, but it was just too cool not to share. Found on the Samba. I love factory photos. I think my favorite, non-cal-look, VW book is the day at the factory book.

Hey Lee, this is nothing special. There's a shop like this just round the corner from me and his back yard looks just like it.

I think it's called "Dave's Aquatics, Pumps & Ponds"  :D :D :D

I'm telling you, this thing is a chick magnet !
I know it's a little off topic, but I thought you would get a kick out of the old photo album I just bought.
There used to be a family that lived a few houses down from me in the late 60's that had a purple metalflake buggy (can't remember what brand) that they used as a daily driver.
It was fun to watch them drive it to church on Sundays all dressed up !
:-)
