Title: The joys of forgotten parts...
Post by: bugnut68 on October 15, 2009, 19:46:07 pm
Funny how we forget what we have sometimes... I was watching TV last night and forgot that I've got a set of fresh, 90.5 bored heads with stock valves that I was planning on using for a back-up 1776 engine... in hindsight, as stressed as I've been about funding a 2017 stroker I wanted to do, I've either got a good basis for heads that could be modded for that engine or else sold for some more dollars for the new mill.
I believe they are either 311 or 040 castings.
My question is this: would it be a better bet to sell them off complete, or use them as a base for bigger valves and porting/polishing?  I'm looking at going to 40mmx37mm valves for the engine I'd like to build, just wondering what is more cost effective or a better bet for such a build, especially since they're already bored for 90.5 jugs, which I currently have.
