Title: How often do you work on your car?
Post by: alex d on January 30, 2007, 15:19:36 pm
I am lucky if I can work three afternoons a week on it...no wonder it seems to be taking forever to finish the car  >:(

not much at the moment (too cold, too lazy and waiting for parts, thats my excuse ;)), but hopefully every night in the next couple of months.

Only when I have to, which usually happens about every 2 months or 3000 miles.

Not often enough unfortunately. But soon my new engine is ready and hopefully thatīll give me the inspiration Iīll need to get it finished by summer.
But as Beetlebug says, I work on the car every single day of the year - in my head :)

It's not work, it's pure pleasure!  ;D
In the summer: Maintenance depending on use or abuse
In the authumn: Home calling and planning for the winter projects. Almost daily.
Mid winter: Nothing, just working on other people cars to get some extra cash a couple of nights a week. The other nights I chase suppliers to get my stuff in time...
Late winter: Daily to get the parts together.
Spring: Day and night!

My garage is too cold........or that is what I am saying to myself to stay away from ti and still be cool ::)..........but sitting silently in a chair producing exact plans on what I shall do at the time I get to my garage.......that is a lot of hard work!!! 8)

I really had a hard time working on my car this winter. I parked it in the garage after DDD#4 and did nothing until 2 Weeks ago. I was even coming to the point of selling it and starting a new project, just because I was bored of my bug and wanted something else.
Two weeks ago I started to work on it again and it felt good. I liked to be oily and greasy again and there's nothing better than sitting on a pile of cool wheels and having dinner in your garage, mixing oil with french fries (I prefer eating them with a very small scredriver :-)
Now I'm working like 3 hours 3 times a week on it, doing some maintenance and some changes for the 2007 season.

during the racing season, i work as often as useful, mostly daily. after the season, i work about two nights during the week and every saturday the whole day (about 8 - 12 hours) to change some things at the racecar, built up a further project (t2b as a towcar)  or modify the two street bugs (mod. 56 and mod. 75).
meanwhile, i'll spend most of the holiday for these hobby, so i'd reduced skiing/snowboarding and surfing/kitesurfing to a max of one week per year  ::) but that's ok
