Title: Where can I get the tool to do these oil line fittings????????
Post by: Lee.C on October 30, 2009, 03:11:49 am
I have been trying to find this tool for AGES  ::)

If you take a look at the oil line in this pic you can see it has a PROPER fitting that I had done by a local custom hose place, I think they use a hydraulic machine to compress them - The thing is they did F&^K up one of the fitting and it caused me no end of problems  ::)

So now I want to do them all myself. May be there is a manual type tool ie non hydraulic  :-\

It just seems silly to keep going to and from the hose shop everytime I want to try a new hose set up plus it cost me at least a tenner every time >:(

Also anyone have a link where I can buy the fittings  ??? I always use 1/2" BSP type  :)

Are you saying Buy the tool from a hydraulic shop???

The Custom hose place is pretty close to me (walking distance) But I get the impression he wouldn't help me buy a tool, He not really my friend after he F*&KED up my hose and caused 5ltrs of oil to empty onto my garage floor >:( ;)

I'll keep looking I guess  :)

Parker do a fitting I have used numerous times good for 3000psi which we need.

Its a 23 series hose with simple tools to allow assembly. We also have a crimping machine which is big bucks.

Alternatively there are speedflow fitting which are perfect and look good. They are made up using simple tools.

Good luck

If your being charged £10 everytime your doing alright.

If your looking to crimp with a hand tool your going to struggle to find something that will provide a safe professional finish.

hey monkiboy, the machine is huge dollars vs return..the hose man should
be able to hook you up. try truck supply houses as well. i work in the industry
and i use FLEETPRIDE in ontario or el monte. we have a crimper here but
only do rubber & crimp for hydraulics. i could suggest others in your area
but not sure where you are. there used to be a truck parts shop in the
placentia area..Carter co now PDSI i think, or newest name TRACTION.
hope this helps you, but unless you are a 2 comma type just pay to have
them made.     Ron 8)

Hmmm very interesting and i know the REAL machine must be expensive but there must be an option for me  :-\

I have loads of hoses with ONE end still attached and I just want to crimp on my own ends - it seems like the Hose shop has me by the balls  >:( :D

What are these type of fitting Called anyhow??????

It could be a 8 JIC 90.

I have had a look on ebay and there are plenty of crimpers. I thought the hand pump crimper would be cheaper but its still big bucks.

Anyway good luck.

You can also try an electrical supply house, ask for a "lug crimping" tool. They have hydraulic and hand crimping styles, hydraulics run around $800 and the hand crimpers around $150, good luck

I make Weatherhead hose at my work (NAPA) and yes, the tools are expensive. But also, you will need the matching brand tool for what ever fittings you are using. No mix and match.
