Title: A Day at the Track
Post by: Sarge on November 02, 2009, 13:54:09 pm
Here's a few pictures from Fontana yesterday.  I had a great time, the weather was beautiful, and the beer cold... what more could you ask for! 8)

Thanks for the kind words, guys!  It's always fun when you get to see old friends and seeing Mike Billings again made my day.  I think he'll turn up on The Lounge soon.  Also cool to finally meet Jim Aust (Traditional Speed and Kustom website) and his son, Blake.  Looking at cars is one thing.... spending time with friends is what it's really all about. 8)

Sorry to of missed the cruise in and not seeing some of you all. I saw Carlos, Rick, Dustin, Ben. Jim R, Glenn, Jim K, Scott, Allen, Russel, Don, Greg,Dave M, Ron F, and Keith. I was busy with crewing for my wife and Daniel Kurtzman.   My wife did a 13.65 not bad for her second time out.  Kurtzman ended up second again in S/G hopefully we can get it next year. I had a great day, awesome pics Sarge.

Thanks for the great pic's Sarge, I didn't know Billings was still sucking air! Seriously, I haven't seen Mike in almost thirty years, since we both worked at FAT Perf. He hasn't changed a bit, of course neither have I  :D :D

And while I'm thinking of it , a big THANK YOU to all my fellow Loungers out there for filling that empty black void in my soul where VW's used to exist.
Please forgive me as I attempt to play catch-up.

AWESOME, Jason! I saw your car, many times, in the staging and return lanes throughout the day. Yelled out to ya a few times... but you had your schedule rather busy. Stoked to hear that you both had a good time.

Great report & pictures, thanks for posting. What kind of times was everybody running then?

That sunshine looks especially tempting while I sit here typing looking out over a rainy England.

I don't recall anyone running their best times as it was at least 90 degrees out.  Here's a few more pics....

No... Eric could not attend the race in Fontana.
Who won the Pro Mod final? Any 8-second pass in Pro Mod?

Just got off the phone with Ron Fleming... Madson's Ghia ran 8.95 for the win (the Red Baron hurt his car) and Allen Weiss won the for the year in Super Comp (E-Girl took out Muffler Mike helping Allen secure his top position).

Great pictures Jim.  I gotta say, you have a good eye with the camera.   Your pictures always give a good look at the event.
