Title: Choosing air corrector jets for Dells?
Post by: RUSS74GHIA on November 11, 2009, 08:40:48 am
Hi, does anyone know what size I shoul be looking at?

They're for my 1914 motor. Carbs are 40's with 34mm vents with 142 mains. I've been offered a set of 205s as a striaght swap for my 180s. Does this sound about right, or is there a formula I should be following.

Thanks in advance.

Russ

the dellorto book says 180 all the time so you might want to hang on to them.

4x ventsize = main

4x 34 = 136 (so 135 will work, or try 140) make sure to have the right e-tubes, mine are wrong and the car runs but could be better

Do not trade away your 180 air jet holders, they are the only size you need for your carbs.  All others will be wrong.  There's a reason the other guy wants to get rid of his 205s, it's because they are the wrong size.

Thanks chaps, I'll hang onto them.

I've also got a set of 135 mains, so I guess these could be reamed out to 138/140 if required

Have you tried using the 135s?

Not yet, the motor's rebuild isn't finished, well, I only picked up the mains/big end bearings yesterday. I'm trying to get everything ready so that I can be up and running as soon as the block's finished.

Run the 135s. Then if they prove too small, ream them out.
My engine is quite happy with 135s in my 40DRLAs.
