With Jim's sedan, he sure does have a very special car indeed!

The new owner is a lucky guy. One of the most mechanically sound cars around. However, Jim did not have to sell the car. He made room for a project in the works for quite some time. A 62' rag. I can not wait to see this thing done! Some find it hard to believe he will even take the thing apart.........it is cherry! Casey


P.S. Jim is not on the web. I know where to find him though. He has been know to lurk around large bodies of water. ;)

Good to hear that he wasn't in the need to sell it. It was always one of my favourite DKP cars and I enjoyed the day shooting his car for VW Speed magazine, because I really had enough time to look into detail.


Yea, funny. I asked him for his email address if there would be some more questions regarding his car while writing the article and he said: "You have to call me, I don't have an email address." Couldn't believe it at first!  :D

He told me he is going to learn the art of these computer things and get on the net and have some fun. One day   ??? :)

Wow, that is one of my all time favorite cars. It doesn't scream look at me like some cars but it just has a presence. I have pretty much memorized the build of the engine in the HotVWs engine book. Its also the one that got me hooked on gasburners. Who ever bought it is on lucky SOB.

Danny, just the wood has been hurt in this container! No cars and No Human! These guys look wild but they know what they do. Actually this was the 35th container they unload.

Damn... the wipers will have to be used!!! waht the dizaster :D
by the way the car looks totaly diferent in Eurpean "sun" (hmm light would be better word).

It's in a warm and cosy place now and it's been waxed 3 times last week (no water of course!  ;D ;D ;D)

It will be taken care of properly but it's France here, not damned California...

Heads Up Performance

Great to see the car arrived with no problems. Good luck in the wheels! I personally have spent many hours on many occasions sanding, yes I said sanding, and polishing those things just so Jim could go haul ass around the block.
Once you get them polished up, try putting a pure Carnuba paste wax on the mag, and wipe it off of course; that helps with the elements and will buy you a little more time on the shine. Later

Next car someone buys and ships, put a case of Gibbs Brand in the trunk!

I decided to go with the "matt" finish instead of the "polished" one.  8)

I love the look of the "matt" magnesium.

My only concern will be  to protect the magnesium (and the whole car)  from the French humid climate  ;D

x2 haha...i can hear the oxidation creeping. this is one of my favorite cars!

No oxydation , I have a product for that  ;D

I used it for years on my 1970 911 ST 2,5 factory racing car.

The car had 10" wide minilites in magnesium at the rear because Fuchs were not availlable in that size at the time .

It's even better than paint because it doesn't peel off with the heat.

The only thing is you have to apply it once a month or so. It takes 1 min per wheel   ;)
