Title: 2332cc t1 daily driver Post by: Bad bug on December 20, 2009, 16:57:05 pm Good day All,
I was thinking of doing a 2332cc t1 for my daily driver 72 beetle. The specs would read steve tims stage 2 with 42 x 37.5 heads, 44mm weber carbs, 8.5 : 1 compression ( i should note that we use 10% ethanol here in our fuel ), engle 120 with 1.25 : 1 rocker arms, bug pack 1 5/8 inch header with dyno max muffler, crankfired ignition using mega squirt to fire my coils, coils will hopefully be of the coil on plug type, 3.5 quart geneburg sump with 26mm oil pump. What do you guys think. I don't want a screamer just an engine that will be reliable and provide a lot of fun. Runs very well, no problems, And it does scream, a little. Alot of fun to drive.

Title: Re: 2332cc t1 daily driver Post by: Bad bug on December 25, 2009, 19:21:54 pm Yes only 10% for now. I do hope they increase this in the near future.

I am putting it in this weekend with a new transaxle too, so I hope it runs good :). Oh, I am also running a new 034 vacuum advance distributor and standard points (purchased from A.J. at lowbugget). We'll see! My car is my only mode of transportation so reliability is most important to me.

I already am pissed that I get ripped off with up to 10% ethanol blend in the crappy CA gas. This is what I get for it-worse gas mileage compared to non ethanol blended gasoline, possibility of it eating through my rubber hoses and o-rings, no reduction in pollution as promised by the supporters, and as a result other products go up in prices since farmers get paid for corn (at least in the US).
Sorry for my rant-I hate that I have to buy this stuff as a result of politicians that push their agenda in order to further their careers. Title: Re: 2332cc t1 daily driver Post by: Bad bug on December 26, 2009, 14:28:29 pm Brandon sorry about your situation, but here in jamaica we use ethanol from sugar cane. I think we even export some of this to your country. On your engine did you increase the compression so as to allow the ethanol to burn more readily. Ethanol is slow burning and needs some help, also you can run more timing so as to start the burn process earlier.
I think on a 2332cc t1 which most have said should give 50,000 miles before a major teardown is need with this engine running on ethanol it should give added mileage before a teardown ( ethanol burn with a cooler flame ). Please remember that tuning will also help the engine to live. If i don't do the 2332cc t1 i will most definitely do a 2276cc t1. Title: Re: 2332cc t1 daily driver Post by: youngnstudly on December 27, 2009, 06:28:42 am I certainly will Bad bug. Right now I have the engine and transaxle out and I am making a mess in the neighbors garage by scraping all the undercoating from the underside of the luggage tray as well as the frame horns. I hope to get the engine installed in a few days so I can tune it and drive it before I have to go back to work. I need to get a few things for the engine compartment before I can reassemble my car. I'll keep you posted.
