Title: chromoly flywheel
Post by: Fast Eddie on December 20, 2009, 23:13:49 pm
i need a new 200mm typ4 flywheel. a company in the uk has them, but they are heavier than my current flywheel.
they dont think they can be lightened. is chromoly too hard to cut or something?
or is it just heavier than normal metal flywheels, therefor is probably cut as much as it can be....
the guy at the shop just sells them i think.
cheers for any info. :)

Hi Ed. How's it going? Snowy up there? Seen the Bear lately? ;)
Chromoly can be cut with tungsten carbide tip tools in a lathe. Any good machine shop should be able to do this for you ;)

The guys in the machineshop at work llightened my Kennedy T4 flywheel with no problems (and no complaining)

I read soemwhere that they weren't really Chromoly, just good steel
