Title: Instalation tips needed on T1 trans with vertigate shifter
Post by: JIMP on December 30, 2009, 16:57:29 pm
As the title says, I have a T1 trans with vertigate nose cone and shifter, to be mounted on a pan car. Can be done without cutting the entire pan tubing? currently I have it on a 2" raise kit and the two lower rods should go directly through the chassis tube, If I raise it another 2" maybe then the rods come above the tubing, but is this a realistic situation as the car will be way low when I will readjust the suspension? Or I just have to let it down and don't bother myself with this modification? The car is a 65 drag car and I really would like to have this transmission installed If I don't have to cut the entire car, any inputs highly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Dimitrios

Hi,
Take a look at the following thread of a mate's car in buildup - IIRC his trans is raised 2" but is definitely T1 + Vertigate... :)

Hello JamieL

cool information thanks, did a search but didn't located the post then, so now its clear, the MSE nose cone that the guy uses has the rods more "up" located so it clears the tubing with 2" raise. I don't know which one my nosecone is but the trans came with a Hurst vertigate shifter. So the question now, does anybody know If i get the MSE nosecone for my trans will it work with the hurst shifter? -I'm not refering to the rods as I can manage them, but in the mechanism itself for example the first movement in the front will be translated as first gear in the gearbox or not? Please let me know if you're sure so as not to do expenses without reason..
