Hey guys,
I like to mount my oil cooler right next to the transmission. Does anybody have some pictures how and where it is mounted. Looks like there is very little space.

Nice out of the way location, but also very inefficient IMHO.
I use to install an extra stock oilcooler in a homemade mount behind the torsion bar housing , with an air foil to lead air up through it. Rather efficient and still out of the way. Along with the stock oil cooler this setup is able to control oil temperature at a sustained load of 60 - 65 hp even in 35 C. heat. ( with 040 or 043 heads)
I will see if i can find a pic in my files (I know i have one somewhere.)

as i EXPLAND that there is another cooler direlctly below the gear box ALSO( NOT SHOWN )with lots of AIR FLOWING ACROSS THE COOLER also it has a fan on it as well the temps have never gone over 190 ON 100 DEG DAY  this is a 3.0 type 1 making 250fw and 250tq. so as far as being INEFFICENT well you have your opinuen and i have mine. now if that was the only cooler that i was running then i would probebly agree with you but sence it is not i will dissagree. have a nice day . ;) UD.

Anybody using a Seatrab Oil Cooler dual or single fan? And pics please.  ;D

very interesting that so many are using the ineffective coolers without webbing betweeen the plates and the fat isolating paint...
The webbing gives you surface and the surface gives you heat output and that`s  makes a cooler effective.
Without the fan at those canadian Empi/b&m coolers they would be effective as some bended cooper tubes.

I had made me a simmilar setup as the swiss made Caegro-cooler (I yust added some more louvers):

I mounts at the torsion bar and grabs air from under the car. Sorry haven`t got a pic of mine at the moment.

This is a interesting setup with an mocal cooler and spal fan from Tom Ratzeks bug which uses the existing room very good:

If using an electric fan with a remote cooler is it better to mount the fan on the front or backside of the cooler-push or pull the air through?

mostly it is said that a pulling fan should be better - but i think ith the right cooler you won't notice any difference cause the temp is always okay.

Not at all Lee, i'ts just the pic, it's the flat half of the coolers catching wind. No speedbump issues here. Also, the rake of the car helps alot. My driveway is also VERY steep, once getting level with the road nothing touches at all.

mine use the cup bar and some rubber mounts onto the body for fixing points.

The fans help with the cooling but to be honest i,ve only used them once in traffic on a very hot day.
The motor runs no hotter than 140 on a 3.5 hour trip to the track.
Also use a ram air fan shroud and a bmd pulley for safety.

I've mounted mine vertically on the left hand side (looking from behind) between the firewall and driveshaft. It may not see much airflow but is thermostatically controlled. To be honest the only time its needed is when sat in traffic and the extra capacity helps.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is it best to mount the coolers with fans blowing up, or blowing down?

Im guessing in the pic below the air is being blown down to the street.....

Which way is better?

With my limited knowledge I would guess if the air is being blown down to the street, their might be an issue with getting fresh cool air to blow down. And like wise if blowing up from the street it could result in a heat build up?

But then again, I havent a clue what Im talking about  ;D So Im probably way off....

J- they could be drawing air through! Personally I'd have the air being drawn through (ie sucking the heat out) and have it drawing from outside of the car. To be honest though some of these fans are that strong that it probably wouldn't make that much difference so long as its not drawing in warm/hot stagnant air.
