Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: lowfastbus on February 12, 2007, 20:04:04 pm Hey Peter,
Looking very good, you'll be happy with the DPR crank and wedgeports ... Don't let that equaliser pulley anywhere near water... they rust like hell :-\ Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Peter on February 13, 2007, 00:06:39 am thanks jelle!
if it rusts like hell, maybe it can be anodised? worries for later :) Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Zach Gomulka on February 13, 2007, 05:04:58 am You cant anodize steel ;)
Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Peter on February 13, 2007, 21:01:19 pm damn,
gold plated then :) Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Peter on February 19, 2007, 18:51:47 pm guys,
the sump i got is the wrong type... it s a 1 1/2 quart, instead a 3 1/2 sump would this effect the oil cooling a lot if i keep it? thanks Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Jordy/DVK on February 23, 2007, 18:14:12 pm it s a 1 1/2 quart, instead a 3 1/2 sump would this effect the oil cooling a lot if i keep it? Sumps aren't the most expensive parts. If you're not in a hurry, put this one up for sale and buy a 3,5qt... I don't know whether it's really necessary... Just curious, but what size crank is it that you use? And which lifters? Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Peter on February 23, 2007, 19:45:58 pm hi,
the cra Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Peter on February 23, 2007, 19:48:09 pm the crank is welded, stroked vw crank by dpr,
cheers, Peter Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Jordy/DVK on February 23, 2007, 20:00:59 pm Yeah.. but what size? 82mm ? Can't find any clues for the size of your engine... ;) And lifters? Do you use Lube-a-lobes or cb lightweight? Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Sander/DVK on February 23, 2007, 21:55:05 pm Welded cranks are always 69mm.
Correct me if im wrong Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Rick Meredith on February 23, 2007, 22:02:43 pm nope... you can have a welded stroker.
Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Jordy/DVK on February 23, 2007, 22:12:56 pm Look for DPR or DMS / Demello at thesamba and be amazed Sander.. ;) Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: lowfastbus on February 23, 2007, 22:13:38 pm I have a welded 74 mm in my engine... Peter aka 'ruff' told me the size of the crank he has, and it's bigger than 74... what size exactly I forgot. ::)
Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Sander/DVK on February 23, 2007, 22:31:38 pm Hmm, I have learn something today ;)

engine will be 2276 lifters i dont have yet; but i think i will buy udo's, so i dont have to worry about break in; my engine will be megasquirt fed, so i can tune it right after the first startup i ll have to start from scratch when tuning, so they will hopefully give me a peace of mind :) cheers, Peter Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Wunder Wim on February 24, 2007, 12:47:31 pm Hi Peter,
I'm shure your EFi will give you all the things you are looking for: wide powerband and lots of torque... What types of TBs are you going for? I will be using one centrally placed plenum. Good luck. Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Peter on February 25, 2007, 16:41:01 pm hellow,
i think i ll buy the TBs from CB; on my 1700 i had the ones i m selling now; 40 mms from amt i'm staying with the megasquirt, because its fun tuning your motor with a laptop:) only if there were TB's that looked like IDA s :) then i would have best of both peter Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Jordy/DVK on February 25, 2007, 17:21:30 pm only if there were TB's that looked like IDA s :) then i would have best of both There are!! Jenvey's and Redline Weber have IDA TB's... and some others too... (but someone advised me to look for other TBs than Jenvey's) http://www.redlineweber.com/html/throttle_bodies/Throttle%20bodies_ida.htm http://www.jenvey.co.uk/drawings/index.htm Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Wunder Wim on February 26, 2007, 17:36:24 pm Hey Peter,
they do exist, those TB that look like 48 IDA's. I found them on the web and are produced by Jenvey Performance in the UK. Just check out http://www.jenvey.co.uk/. These TB fit IDA intake manifolds, have almost the same dimensions and are obtainable up to 50mm... A belgium company called AK Sport which is based in Brussels can deliver these nice TB's. They are not cheap, I allready ask price for IDF style TB in 48mm and cost 625 euro/pair. What's the price for your current TB's? Greetz Wim http://dievolksfreunde.blogspot.com/ Title: Re: engine buildup Post by: Peter on February 26, 2007, 18:05:51 pm my tb's alone were about 400, without injectors and filters
i paid 250 for the injectors i think the ida bodies almost look the same as idf bodies; and they cost alot more! nobody has some junk ida's that i can use as tb's? ;D Peter |
