Title: Do you Recognize This Car..?
Post by: Kaferdog on February 14, 2010, 08:34:24 am
I was looking thru some old pics of mine and came across this photo of a car that I used to see down the street from my house in Montebello,Ca. around 1980 or so. I think the person who owned this car worked here , because I would see it during the day in the same spot quite often !... I always thought this car was "Badass" even today...! It was a nicely done !....

Cool car! A few of us left the factory front indicators on, while dechroming the rest of the car, back then. Car looks sorta familiar... but without seeing the interior or engine, hard to identify. We had a few DEEKS from that area, hopefully, they can chime in and help out.

Danny this was in Montebello,Ca ( Greenwood ave. & Washington Blvd. ) but I know that this type of complex was a dime a dozen in So.Cal..
I "Never " saw this car at any events that's what makes it so mysterious...!

Ian...It does look like one ,but I think it's a "Mercury Bobcat"....? Mercury's version of a Ford Pinto

Randy, it looks more like a 1978 Buick Regal behind the bug and it doesn't look all that new.

No. I don't recall that car. But, I'll bet the owner at the time of this photo, wasn't the guy who built it as a Cal Look car.

By the way Randy do you remember VDO had an outlet in Montebello back then? One of our high school friends was working for them an I ended up with a box full of gauges. Since I had already sold my '69, I gave them away. I wish I would've kept them.

Green-something!! It's in Montebello HAHAHAHAHA!

And you've got the picture! That's more than likely the reason you saw the VDO gauges in that car. The outlet was owned by VDO-Argo and I have been down that way a couple of years later they were still there but, I'm sure they've vacated soon after. I know they were repairing gauges too.

I remember each of the gauges in my box still had the styrafoam packaging with a red/black & clear sleeve. They were all new. I didn't buy any of the senders as I wasn't sure if I wanted to install them.
