Title: Kingsburg Car Show, APRIL 17
Post by: kingsburgphil on February 20, 2010, 09:12:28 am
TIRED OF PREACHING TO THE CHOIR ??    Then come show at the Kingsburg Car Show !!

Tried of the "same old same old" "been there seen that" crowd ??  Then if you've got it,

then come flaunt it to thousands who think that hot rod motors come out of a crate. People who

think a Hot VW is one with a woodie dash and a zoom tube, I think we can do better. Come join me

on April 17th. I'll be there with slicks and a stinger  ;D ;D

Thanks Fabs, I replaced the lexan windscreen with a glass one today and finally bled the brakes after a trans refit two months ago.

I wrote to Roger Crawford about a pair of DRF decals a few months ago, I'm still waiting for a response, guess he's just busy ?

I really hope I can entice some of my fellow Loungers to show up at our annual car show. Most folks around here have no idea
what a Hot VW is, and personally I have great fun playing "show and tell" to the uninitiated.

What I think would be cool is a clean stock VW parked next to a "Looker" then mine, flanked by a Pro Stock killer VW.

The look on their faces would be......"Priceless"  :D :D

I plan on being at the Bug-In, wouldn't miss seeing the "Dog and the Babe" again for the world. Unfortunately
bringing my car would be a logistical challenge that I hope to have resolved by next year.  ;)

Was that car featured in VWTrends back in the '90s?

The car was built and raced by Chip Wimer and his sons back in the 90's. It was on the cover of the Nov. issue of VWTrends in 2002 with a smaller
motor and cast BRM's.

That's it. I have always liked that car. It has that certain "it" for me. I like the new improvements as well.

Just a reminder, Sat. morning is  the Kingsburg Car Show.  I'll be there @ O Dark 30 till late in the afternoon, by myself if need be. But I'd prefer
the company of a fellow VW owner and his/her car, preferably not a ubiquitous Herbie clone or hideous kit car.  PM me if you can make it   ;) ;)

Lol, I have a herbie living a couple minutes away from me and there is probably a fake MG or a Kelmark around here too. I have to work Saturday but hopefully you will come to madera or maybe Sebring West this Friday.

Unfortunately my Friday is already spoken for, but the Chubby's in Madera sounds like fun. I'd like to bring my car, but have unresolved trailer issues
to address first.

If you live in the Central valley then you HAVE to come to the Madera show. How could you not?

Update on Kingsburg car show.. Great show, 300 cars entered 10,000 plus attended. Drove to the show at 5 am in full race trim (got a "pass" from the
police dept). The 66 and I carried the "torch" alone, so to speak except for a stock Ghia "Xmas tree".
There were several "pro" hot rods, lead sleds, 5.6.7 Chevy's, Vettes, T birds, bunch's of American muscle cars and dozens of resto rods.
The spectators were respectful and very curious, no one even touched the car. Just dozens of questions and eight hours of show and tell  :D
Overall a good cross section of Americana.  Sorry no pics, I was busy!
