Title: 1965 beetle swap for 1776+ turnkey motor?
Post by: beetletom on March 08, 2010, 21:44:20 pm
i don't see myself ever finishing this, been untouched for months, since getting another car thats on the road, have just lost all enthusiasm.

i will not sell it, and only swap it for the right engine, no remtec, or recon shit, otherwise its staying.

but whoever buys it MUST NOT break, baja, or testarossa it

its had welding in all the usual beetle areas, channels, 1/4's etc, most of it has been done well! 100% solid, i have started to waxoyl it like a nutter too.

the main bad bit i'd like to point out is, that its had a skin put over the outer bulkhead? but is fine, i've stonechipped and painted it.

original vw front wings, very early repro rear wings, rest of the panels are all genuine vw.
all panel gaps and fit are near perfect too.
genuine blade bumpers and overiders

recent respray in year correct fontana grey, still got to flat out the runs!
inner wings have been stonechipped and painted in body colour

stainless steel bolts throughout.

i have replaced the interior with a 1966 only pigalle red version
with 1200 beetle rubber floor mats, i have a brand new newton commercial carpet set in red to be fitted.
with a stock 64-65 only steering wheel and column painted in ivory.

most, if not all of the rubbers have been replaced with genuine vw, or good 2nd hand gen vw bits.

it has a factory recon 1200 out of a 74 bug fitted, but ripe for something bigger? ;)
stock 1200 box

lowered linkpin beam
is on 15" wide 5 solids NO FUCHS!

i will be keeping the pop outs and rear screen, but replacement glass will be fitted
no roofrack or rear lenses.

for an mot it needs brakes overhauling, headlights and indicators to be wired up

needs the engine taken out, flywheel changed to 6v type, or more of the bellhousing to be ground out
rear suspension to be raised
running board trim to be fitted, carpet fitted

i don't like to say if this is a definite for sale ad, but if the right engine can be swapped for it, then yes.
but i will only let it go if you promise to finish it!
