Title: AN style oil and fuel hose fittings
Post by: Rocket Ron on March 25, 2010, 18:05:51 pm
Been looking at the black AN style fittings for renewing my oils and fuel lines as I step up to my new turbo set up

Does anyone have an alternative or cheaper place to get these sorts of fittings

I really like the newer style black fittings and braided hose but cant seem to find a UK supplier who does AN 12 in this colour.

Am I right in thinking AN6 for fuel and AN 12 for oil are the correct sizes ??

thanks in advance

Some tractors use the same fitting in their hydraulic system its called JIC.  As an example, I went to buy one Aeromotive AN fitting and it was $24.00 each.  I bought 6 of the same JIC fittings from the tractor wholesaler for $20.50 including all tax.  The tractor fittings are not anodized though.  The JIC fittings are all interchangable with the AN fittings, they use the same taper and threads.  I only had to buy the pushlock specific AN fitting for the hose, but all other fittings can be JIC.

Cheers guys

just spent the last couple of hours looking at hard lines and hose fittings. I love this sort of thing  8)

I think a couple of hard lines running front to back for fuel and hose and fittings for the oil look the way to go

Richie I have a a few fittings that came with the turbo kit and yes its efi. just ordered a 044 bosch pump today and I know i'll need a couple of metric to an adaptors for that. i'll have a look at what I've got and let you know what I need

Thanks to all Ron

Try TMR in the city of orange CA.
X2 on TMR, there kinda behind Berg's, buy all my lines and fittings from there, I believe they sell the XRP brand. Very high quality stuff, price's are pretty fair.

I run AN8 all the way. It isn't a big price difference to #6 and you only have one size to bother about.

It doesn't help how good planner you are, you always have to order some more and always get some "leftovers".
The more sizes you have the more leftoves and reorders you will have.

I have a box of leftovers too :D

I've used a few fittings on mine, jegs/russell are hard to put together, they work well just a pain in the ass to make! Goodridge are awesome but very expensive, XRP are the best fittings I've used! I bought the XRP fittings from TMR when I was there and never found them here but just the other day Motorshack announced they stock them. www.motorshack.com (http://www.motorshack.com)

So true!

On my current engine I use Summits own brand. Cheap and easy to put together. They do not have the same quality feel as XRP but they are 1/3 the price so OK for me.

I've used the same but I've found Earls to be the best.

If Summits are good enough for Nystrom then they are good enough for me   :D

I have used Aeroquip, Earl, Russel and Summit.

Summit may not be as good looking s the other ones but it does the job and it is the easiest to assemble.

I just had delivered some AN fittings from Torques uk, nice quality and all very nice

recieved 1 x AN 8 30 micron fuel filter black anodized, 1 x black anodized bosch 044 fuel pump bracket, 2 x AN 8 bosch fuel pump adapters black anodized. Some of the fittings are metric threads that you cant get in the states.

now looking forward to placing an order for the rest of the fittings I need, cant believe how many you need and it going to cost a quite a bit but I'm hoping to get a price back soon so I can get them ordered and get stuck into the plumbing  ;D

Have you made up any lines using the Torques stuff yet Ron? Just wondered how well it goes together.

I have been looking at their stuff myself, looks pretty good and price is pretty good too.
