Title: time for an up date
Post by: Rocket Ron on April 04, 2010, 18:59:18 pm
well started the up date today

engine out and partially stripped in readiness for a new cam new, piston rings, bearings  and a new case.

out will go the 48idas and in comes a new turbo setup based around a CB blow through kit but with a stinger 4244 ecu and fuel injection.

gearbox will basically be the same long street gears but with an LSD

Started with the easy stuff today by putting on the new wheels, thanks Markus . Lots to do but I hope to be up and running by mid May, lets see what happens

thanks for the nice comments

received some part this week ,collected a new Ali case for the engine and a pair of 7" ercos with some spacers

Going to give the back end a good clean down later today and maybe get the rear wings off so I've some room to work.

Tom no Ghia updates as life getting in the way at the moment  :-\

You must be getting close with that motor now Ron  ???

After a few false starts I now have my new engine case, parts from the USA on the way here and all my AN fitting and hard lines have been delivered,

Hopefully I'll be able to get some of the oil and fuel pluming sorted and the the line lock mounted this week end  and that will leave me a couple of weeks  to get the engine sorted before Gary's picnic

Photos later  ;)

a quick polish up of the breather tube and new fittings attached
[attachment=1]

Sent the turbo off for a rebuild today and should get the news on its condition tomorrow. I am a little unsure on the hp it will make but it was sized A/r .60 on the cold side and A/R .63 on the exhaust and reading up it could make up to 350hp on the right engine.
I'm not aiming for anywhere near this so it should be OK for mid 200hp hopefully

My other engine parts are in customs and should be with me this week. With a bit of luck I'm hoping to get it running by the weekend after next but time will tell. This weeks job is to get the fuel lines in, gearbox out and fit the ZF I collected over the winter.

Gary's picnick may still be OK but I may be out on carbs if I run out of time :-\

Thanks Harv

It did have a few issues when I dropped it off for the rebuild, interestingly Turbo dynamics said it looked like it was badly built from the factory wrong bearings and generally poorly put together  ::)
