Title: Generators Post by: louisb on April 06, 2010, 22:30:16 pm Anyone still running a generator on their car or has everyone gone to alternators? I am tempted to run a gen on my Manx so I can run an early style fuel pump.

Title: Re: Generators Post by: louisb on April 06, 2010, 22:57:31 pm So it will fit, there is just not a lot of clearance.
edit: It looks like the issue is if you are running the stock carb which I am not. So I should be able to run that 32hp fuel pump I have with an alt. Then I just have to set the fuel pressure to work with the IDFs. cool. --louis Title: Re: Generators Post by: Zach Gomulka on April 07, 2010, 00:45:03 am I like how generators look. Simple, clean, and less bulky.

Me too, but I finally got talked into changing over to alternators in both my Ghia and Single Cab. The alternator is just a better set up for providing a more efficient charging system. Still, I might stick with a generator in my Thing project. ;) Title: Re: Generators Post by: TexasTom on April 07, 2010, 05:14:31 am I still run a generator.
I like the less bulky look and I like having the reserve use of grounding it and using it as a motor to cool if and when I throw a belt. This has saved me a tow 3 or 4 times over the years. Also, I use it in this capacity at the track for a little cooling.
