Title: 92 mm cilinderkit
Post by: FDK/mrpedrini on April 24, 2010, 19:25:32 pm
just wonder.....

What are the experiences on 92 mm cilinderkits? Making thougts to upgrade my 2017cc engine with a 92mm cilinderkit (2074cc). Are they to thin and is it true that they don't seal well in the head area?

kind regards, Dennis..

Buy the new style AnA set. It has a 94 outer and a 92 inner. Thicker than the 94 barrels and I have heard the work fine. I bought a set and have not installed them yet. I believe CB Performance may carry them.

You can get 94's that have been machined to fit in the 90.5 case, you have to machine your heads though... 2175cc!

Thanks for the reply's,

So i must presume that the regular 92 mm kit (without machinework to case and heads) is not advised to use? regards D

I would recommend using the type where you machine the case. You can then have the case faced so the seating areas are all trued up and have a wider base to support the barrels.  I have done this for all my VW life and it works the best.  There are guys who machine the bottom of the barrels but in my opinion it is a compromise to the cylinder integrity.
