Title: Sealing stock fuel pump flange
Post by: Brandon Sinclair on April 26, 2010, 15:49:31 pm
I have a stock fuel pump on one of my type 1's and it weeps a small bit of oil from both above and below the flange.  I have used permatex, tried loctite 518 below and used permatex spray on gasket sealer to the gaskets above the flange.  I thought I had it licked but then after some 50 miles I see evidence of oil weeping again.  Any suggestions on what sealant/procedure to use to stop this from happening would be great.  Thanks

Sounds like all of the mating/contact surfaces of the case, pump block, and pump need to be closely checked to make sure that they're congruent. That's all I can offer... I've never had one leak. But good luck with it, at any rate. Hopefully, someone can post up a sure fire cure.

Thats what I was thinking too Fred.  I guess I will grab a new flange and start there.  Thanks.
