I am going to Bug Run, EBI and SCC except my home track if everything goes according to the plan.

I feel sorry for your engines Roman! Your old one drinked a lot of alcohol and this one is already smoking and drinking coffee. To bad :)

No, a CB case with some modifications. I ordered the case without any head stud holes so I could drill them in a Autocraft/waterboxer pattern. You just need to weld the case slightly behind the oil dipstick before you bore it to 4".

Sounds like it has the makings of a total yob.  8)

One side of the case was machined today. You can see how much that was added with weld at the oil dip stick side.
4" is massive!

2" A1 step header...

These pics explain it all...so either an aluminum rod from top all the way down to the main gallery,or just drill and tap for a plug just above the main gallery

Still waiting for parts... JPM works 24/7 in his shop and the plan is to have everything done to Bug Run but it's going to be a tight schedule.

OK, I am bored... I talked to JPM today and he will recieve it from line boring any day now. Then it is time to make some new T4 main berings from two sets (the best way to get a good bearing crush).

KCR has promised the Folts axle kit to be ready before the end of the week. Just my luck, they seem to be ready at the same time.

So I made some other updates, I installed new seats and a MSD 7 AL2 instead of the Digital 6. I made a test with the ProPower, drag only coil and the sparks flew 2+ inches! I felt like some guy in star wars!
The difference is huge to the old MSD6 and the blaster HVC. Old one: 42000 volts, new one 55000 volts.
BTW I have a streetable Pro Power HVC coil as well for street driving. It is installed and i can shift between them in a minute.

Just forgot one thing, I added passenger seat belts as well. Last year people were having a grey tone in the face after the test ride...

Mock up with the new rear Ercos with 8.5" M/T slicks. I still have the M&H on Ercos for street driving.
The tranny is on it's way with air shipment from USA and hopefully I can install it next weekend.

That is my goal, but it depends on when I get my heads.

What size rims are you running with the 8.5" slicks? Is it a type 1 box your running?! Looks like its going to be fun  ;D

Bus tranny and it is installed now. The rims have too big offset to fit under the stock fenders, but I have found some flared fenders that hopefully will solve the problem. I neither have the time or money to order new rims from Erco so it has to work for this season.
The bus tranny is a lot beefier than the type1.

I have started the test assembly of the engine and it seems like I have to cut the barrels approx 1".

I just got a phonecall from JPM today and the heads were almost finished. The flow was 290 cfm @16 mm lift with a 50 mm intake valve!

50mm valve 290 CFM.... And I guess this is in the 4" inch version of the MS230 heads?!? More cooling than a 044 and 290 cfm... the world is changing!

Yes, it's the 4". It is not a noff the shelf head, it has some additional porting. I know he has made a standard 4" bore head to a guy in Denmark, but I don't know the flow.

I just welded it up so I have even thickness around the #2 cylinder.
My heads are finished on Tuesday and if everything goes according to plans I will cut the valve relief pockets and shorten the pushrods on thursday.

Hmmm, plans... I will get the heads on friday so I have to convince my machine guy to work on Saturday morning. NOT an easy task.
I have to think positive now, Bug Run is 1.5 weeks away and my engine is nothing but a stack of parts that needs adjusting.
It is not impossible though.

On the topic of head-porting, for those scandiniavians who have a chance to pick up the swedish car magazines like Automobil and Wheels Magazine in your newsstand, there are some interesting features about both Johannes( JPM) (Automobil) and VW head-porting (Wheels Mag.), I think it's in the latest issues currently available.

I hope you get the carburators working. We got a lot of troubles with the 62 Geers and the 58 Bergs . The americans sell the parts and and let us get a lot of work . >:(

My Berg 52s worked like clockwork, but the Terminators needed some adjustment on the butterflies to close correctly. I hope to see how they work soon...

They are flowed with the intake manifolds now. 297 cfm at 16 mm (.630").
The engine won't be started during the weekend, one of the valve locks was different than the other so I had to order a new one. The customer service at Del West is great, they are sending me a new one by UPS express free of charge. They won't even charge me for the freight!

I have everything now except the keeper. Time to go to the garage and measure the valve pockets and pushrod length.
Final assembly during the weekend - Bug run is less than a week away!

Keep up the good work Roman. Can´t wait to see you in action with hopefully my old Erco rears.

No time to fit the 8" wheels to Bug Run. BUT IT IS ALIVE!!!! 9 hours of sleep in three days.

286 hp - 330 Nm (243 foot pound). We only´had time to change the Jetting and timing but JPM thought 300 would be in the reach if we changed the venturis to 50 mm and had some more run time on the engine. I more or less broke in the cam on the dyno.
Sadly thhe trans broke down on the first run. But I had a trap speed of 186 km/h even if I had to go from first to third gear and let off gas after 350 meter.

Last weekend at bug run my tranny didn't work, it locked up the reverse so I only did one run before I left and went home.
Today I missed the shift at the first run and had some serious tire shake. The second run was better: 11.02 -191 km/h.
I didn't have time ro make any more runs due to some serious oil down from a Nitro funny.
10's tomorrow?

it is not easy to have in 10' S one needs much to work  development on your engine and tranny

11.02 is a misprint from me, my best ET was 11.05.
I have only had 4 runs this weekend and I missed a shift on two of them and forgot to relerase the line lock on them. Only one decent run so the potential must be a lot higher.
Regarding the engine: The FK-98 and the Terminators does not feel a big as they sound, the big engine makes it feel quite smooth. It Idles at 600(!) rpm and it runs fair until 3500 were the torque starts to feel HARD.
I will post photos and videos later when I get them from friends.

What size is the crank?

86 mm, type 4 mains, chevy rods.

i am the guy from denmark who got the set of ms230/4 from jpm.
i havent startet on the motor yet, but got the most of the parts.. building my motor as a oxy.
got a dpr 86mm weldet crank for the wbx case and it is good stuff.
my plan was to run with an bus tranny aswell, but what gear ratio is in yours.

The 11.05 run was in M&H dot tires in the same conditon as driven on the street except for wheelie bars and stinger.

Front shocks are stock from 1959. There are a lot of expensive parts on the car but the font shocks are there from factory!

I tested my car at SBP, the swedish equvivalent to MOT, TÜV, Biltillsynet etc. today and it was approved without any problems in the same condition as I race it, with the exception of a muffler. Two more years until the next test!

I drove the car there, 28 degrees celsius (82 Farenheit) in the shadow and I guess 40 (104F) in the sun.
30 minutes each way and it was long from overheating.

I wish our german tüv will do those things ,  ;)
