It's nice lol you will built the new engine this year for EBI new big block pauter or scat killer?? Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on February 26, 2007, 21:26:46 pm No, a CB case with some modifications. I ordered the case without any head stud holes so I could drill them in a Autocraft/waterboxer pattern. You just need to weld the case slightly behind the oil dipstick before you bore it to 4".

Keep up with the good work! BB Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: LGK on March 15, 2007, 21:44:33 pm Udo,
There is always the choices for 2 different 101.6 bore barrels from AUTOCRAFT... or you can go the other way... Regards Steve. Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: LGK on March 15, 2007, 21:56:24 pm Roman,
These pics explain it all...so either an aluminum rod from top all the way down to the main gallery,or just drill and tap for a plug just above the main gallery Hope this helps. Regards Steve. Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on March 15, 2007, 22:26:37 pm Thanks, that was helpfull. I will plug the case just above the main gallery.
I can see that you have ported the case a lot more than me between the cylinders. A hard decision, strength vs. case flow! Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Udo on March 16, 2007, 20:22:18 pm Hi steve
I know the autocraft cylinders .But I like the 94's :) Regards udo Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: empicolector on March 17, 2007, 14:28:09 pm NICE WORK KEEP GOING

Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on April 27, 2007, 20:10:54 pm Still waiting for parts... JPM works 24/7 in his shop and the plan is to have everything done to Bug Run but it's going to be a tight schedule.
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: christophe on April 28, 2007, 17:31:11 pm But Roman why did you buy such a small telephone??!!?? ??? :)
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on April 28, 2007, 17:51:04 pm Watch out, next call I will make to you the phone will still be there but with the engine running! :)
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: christophe on April 28, 2007, 19:20:23 pm ;D I hope you'll be ready for BugRun.
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 02, 2007, 22:02:09 pm OK, I am bored... I talked to JPM today and he will recieve it from line boring any day now. Then it is time to make some new T4 main berings from two sets (the best way to get a good bearing crush).
KCR has promised the Folts axle kit to be ready before the end of the week. Just my luck, they seem to be ready at the same time. So I made some other updates, I installed new seats and a MSD 7 AL2 instead of the Digital 6. I made a test with the ProPower, drag only coil and the sparks flew 2+ inches! I felt like some guy in star wars! The difference is huge to the old MSD6 and the blaster HVC. Old one: 42000 volts, new one 55000 volts. BTW I have a streetable Pro Power HVC coil as well for street driving. It is installed and i can shift between them in a minute. Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 02, 2007, 22:14:03 pm Just forgot one thing, I added passenger seat belts as well. Last year people were having a grey tone in the face after the test ride...

Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 12, 2007, 15:07:46 pm Mock up with the new rear Ercos with 8.5" M/T slicks. I still have the M&H on Ercos for street driving.
The tranny is on it's way with air shipment from USA and hopefully I can install it next weekend. Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Thomas 356 on May 12, 2007, 15:40:12 pm looks COOL Roman
will you be Ready fore BUG RUN ::) Thomas Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 12, 2007, 15:58:15 pm That is my goal, but it depends on when I get my heads.
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: SteveW on May 13, 2007, 08:20:43 am Mock up with the new rear Ercos with 8.5" M/T slicks. I still have the M&H on Ercos for street driving. The tranny is on it's way with air shipment from USA and hopefully I can install it next weekend. What size rims are you running with the 8.5" slicks? Is it a type 1 box your running?! Looks like its going to be fun ;D Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 22, 2007, 23:40:21 pm Bus tranny and it is installed now. The rims have too big offset to fit under the stock fenders, but I have found some flared fenders that hopefully will solve the problem. I neither have the time or money to order new rims from Erco so it has to work for this season.
The bus tranny is a lot beefier than the type1. Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 22, 2007, 23:42:57 pm I have started the test assembly of the engine and it seems like I have to cut the barrels approx 1".
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: 71CALRIPPER on May 23, 2007, 08:07:59 am Bus boxes all the way dude :)

Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 24, 2007, 15:53:15 pm I just got a phonecall from JPM today and the heads were almost finished. The flow was 290 cfm @16 mm lift with a 50 mm intake valve!
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Tom G. on May 24, 2007, 20:54:31 pm I just got a phonecall from JPM today and the heads were almost finished. The flow was 290 cfm @16 mm lift with a 50 mm intake valve! awesome..unbelievable... Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Rasser on May 25, 2007, 18:35:50 pm Need I remind you - you have exactly 14 days left before bugrun ;-)
good luck with the engine - hope to see you and your engine/car at Mantorp. Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Jon on May 26, 2007, 10:36:43 am 50mm valve 290 CFM.... And I guess this is in the 4" inch version of the MS230 heads?!? More cooling than a 044 and 290 cfm... the world is changing!
Super happy on your behalf Roman!! Hope you make it! Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 26, 2007, 22:50:34 pm Yes, it's the 4". It is not a noff the shelf head, it has some additional porting. I know he has made a standard 4" bore head to a guy in Denmark, but I don't know the flow.
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: richie on May 27, 2007, 13:23:37 pm Looking good Roman, the case welding looks different to mine, got some deutz? cylinders now so just the heads and I will be good, cheers richie,uk
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 28, 2007, 14:39:27 pm I just welded it up so I have even thickness around the #2 cylinder.
My heads are finished on Tuesday and if everything goes according to plans I will cut the valve relief pockets and shorten the pushrods on thursday. Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 29, 2007, 16:32:37 pm Hmmm, plans... I will get the heads on friday so I have to convince my machine guy to work on Saturday morning. NOT an easy task.
I have to think positive now, Bug Run is 1.5 weeks away and my engine is nothing but a stack of parts that needs adjusting. It is not impossible though. Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: richie on May 29, 2007, 18:29:40 pm You can do it :) Good luck, cheers richie,uk
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 30, 2007, 00:49:21 am I am convinced! Almost two in the morning and I have to get up for work in 4 hours...

Post by: Roman on May 30, 2007, 11:34:16 am I got a picture from JPM today, here are the manifolds before and after porting:
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Jon on May 30, 2007, 13:50:36 pm That looks like ALOT of hours!! I hope Johannes likes the summer cabin you buying him ;-)
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: 62 Ragtop on May 30, 2007, 14:24:20 pm :o This is goin' to be a monster!! Hope that the hours are on your side Roman and that you make it to BR!
On the topic of head-porting, for those scandiniavians who have a chance to pick up the swedish car magazines like Automobil and Wheels Magazine in your newsstand, there are some interesting features about both Johannes( JPM) (Automobil) and VW head-porting (Wheels Mag.), I think it's in the latest issues currently available. Go Roman! BR, Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Udo on May 30, 2007, 22:27:29 pm I hope you get the carburators working. We got a lot of troubles with the 62 Geers and the 58 Bergs . The americans sell the parts and and let us get a lot of work . >:(
Udo Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 31, 2007, 01:06:48 am My Berg 52s worked like clockwork, but the Terminators needed some adjustment on the butterflies to close correctly. I hope to see how they work soon...
Time to go to bed, have to get up again in 3.5 hours to do some machining before work... Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 31, 2007, 11:13:40 am This is sick!!!
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on May 31, 2007, 20:04:38 pm They are flowed with the intake manifolds now. 297 cfm at 16 mm (.630").
The engine won't be started during the weekend, one of the valve locks was different than the other so I had to order a new one. The customer service at Del West is great, they are sending me a new one by UPS express free of charge. They won't even charge me for the freight! Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on June 01, 2007, 17:38:02 pm I have everything now except the keeper. Time to go to the garage and measure the valve pockets and pushrod length.
Final assembly during the weekend - Bug run is less than a week away! Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: besserwisser on June 01, 2007, 20:24:36 pm Keep up the good work Roman. Can´t wait to see you in action with hopefully my old Erco rears.
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on June 06, 2007, 23:38:13 pm No time to fit the 8" wheels to Bug Run. BUT IT IS ALIVE!!!! 9 hours of sleep in three days.
Off to JPM tomrrow for a dyno session before bug run. Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Mags on June 06, 2007, 23:44:53 pm Cool,i hope a will see there with your car.
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: marcus ösd on June 09, 2007, 07:30:39 am come on now roman how did it go at jpm. any figures yet? I codnt make it to bugrun this year so im missing out on the show. But now we want to see you pull some great time slips down there. good luck!!
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on June 10, 2007, 07:53:52 am 286 hp - 330 Nm (243 foot pound). We only´had time to change the Jetting and timing but JPM thought 300 would be in the reach if we changed the venturis to 50 mm and had some more run time on the engine. I more or less broke in the cam on the dyno.
Sadly thhe trans broke down on the first run. But I had a trap speed of 186 km/h even if I had to go from first to third gear and let off gas after 350 meter. More later, I am a bit tired now.... Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Liou on June 10, 2007, 19:21:21 pm :o :o monster hp wow !! it is good work mr roman 8)
I hope will see there this your car " monster sweden " ;D Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on June 16, 2007, 21:06:16 pm Last weekend at bug run my tranny didn't work, it locked up the reverse so I only did one run before I left and went home.
Today I missed the shift at the first run and had some serious tire shake. The second run was better: 11.02 -191 km/h. I didn't have time ro make any more runs due to some serious oil down from a Nitro funny. 10's tomorrow? Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Alan Uyeno on June 16, 2007, 23:36:57 pm Roman :o :o :o
Simply....crazy!!!!! ;) Awesome!! Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Liou on June 17, 2007, 08:24:11 am it is not badly when same you were made a success of 11.02 it is the second runs lol
it is not easy to have in 10' S one needs much to work development on your engine and tranny I hope for you in the 10' S with the ebi ;) liou Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on June 17, 2007, 17:39:18 pm 11.02 is a misprint from me, my best ET was 11.05.
I have only had 4 runs this weekend and I missed a shift on two of them and forgot to relerase the line lock on them. Only one decent run so the potential must be a lot higher. Regarding the engine: The FK-98 and the Terminators does not feel a big as they sound, the big engine makes it feel quite smooth. It Idles at 600(!) rpm and it runs fair until 3500 were the torque starts to feel HARD. I will post photos and videos later when I get them from friends. Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Zach Gomulka on June 17, 2007, 18:02:47 pm What size is the crank?
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on June 17, 2007, 20:09:59 pm 86 mm, type 4 mains, chevy rods.

nice to follow your projekt here.. it all look awsome. i am the guy from denmark who got the set of ms230/4 from jpm. i havent startet on the motor yet, but got the most of the parts.. building my motor as a oxy. got a dpr 86mm weldet crank for the wbx case and it is good stuff. my plan was to run with an bus tranny aswell, but what gear ratio is in yours. regarts peter bang peb@vestas.com Title: Re: Sneak peek... I ask you used the front shock adjusting carrera ?? because very nice departure in front of portatree lol Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on June 20, 2007, 16:26:12 pm Front shocks are stock from 1959. There are a lot of expensive parts on the car but the font shocks are there from factory!
Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Roman on July 05, 2007, 15:34:37 pm I tested my car at SBP, the swedish equvivalent to MOT, TÜV, Biltillsynet etc. today and it was approved without any problems in the same condition as I race it, with the exception of a muffler. Two more years until the next test!
I drove the car there, 28 degrees celsius (82 Farenheit) in the shadow and I guess 40 (104F) in the sun. 30 minutes each way and it was long from overheating. Title: Re: Sneak peek... Post by: Udo on July 05, 2007, 20:35:03 pm I wish our german tüv will do those things , ;)
