Title: Gearbox Ratios Post by: 71CALRIPPER on May 26, 2010, 10:53:58 am Looking for peoples thoughts on these gear ratios for a NA motor but not a high reving motor.
More street than strip gears (weddle) 3.78 2.36 1.31 (welded) 1.04 (welded) 3.88 ring and pinion Thank you Title: Re: Gearbox Ratios Post by: Jason Foster on May 26, 2010, 13:37:23 pm I think this will have you more in the high reving range personaly. For street I'd suggest the 2.06 second. and a .89 fourth.
Title: Re: Gearbox Ratios Post by: nicolas on May 26, 2010, 14:24:29 pm what jason said, but with a 4.12 RP. strongest 'stockish' gearbox and a good cruiser/driver box IMHO.
Title: Re: Gearbox Ratios Post by: Zach Gomulka on May 26, 2010, 16:59:19 pm That sounds like a terrible gearset. Long 1st, close second, huge 2-3 drop, and a final drive that works out a little shorter than a stock 4.12 box. I'd take a stock ratio 4.12 box over that any day.
Title: Re: Gearbox Ratios Post by: Bruce on May 27, 2010, 06:07:07 am For that tight second, your 3rd is too tall. Build it that way, you'll experience a bog everytime you hit 3rd.
A better split between that 2nd and that 4th is a 1.50. I agree with the above. 4.12 is where it's at. Title: Re: Gearbox Ratios Post by: Jason Foster on May 29, 2010, 05:51:39 am Well he said he was running the 3.88, for 4.12 I suggest
3.78 2.06 1.26 .82 Keeping in mind he's looking for streetable cruising. Title: Re: Gearbox Ratios Post by: FDK/mrpedrini on May 29, 2010, 16:35:56 pm What kind of engine and horsepower do you have? I think we might searching for the same solution.... (check out my topic: 2017cc gearbox selection).
