Title: What a weekend - the DFL 402 Cal look Trophy
Post by: Georg/DFL on June 08, 2010, 22:59:47 pm
What a weekend it was! When we arrived Friday at Bitburg, the sun was shining and the sky was clear and blue. Perfect conditions for three days of fun on the 1/4 mile.

Our own DFL 402 Cal Look Trophy took place, similar to the famous DRKC, but smaller. Remember, we are in Germany not sunny California.

These where the trophys for the first three.[attachment=1]

Our members weren't allowed to take part in the 402, but we had also fun on the strip. Tobi is doing a nice burnout.[attachment=2]

Two of the 12 paticipants - Lorenz (left) from Germany and Christoph from the swiss club "Luftkraft"[attachment=3]

Later winner Dirk Kunold in his 12 second Looker[attachment=4]

Dirk Müller had a 1776 cc last year and went for a Remmele build 2,7 liter Type 4 this year.[attachment=1]

Second in the DFL 402 was Jo Standaert from Belgium.[attachment=2]

Some pure race cars were there also. Turtle racer and...[attachment=3]

... Der Express. What a cool car - and fast too![attachment=4]

Another nice Cal Looker from Belgium.[attachment=1]

Our member Otto brought his race buggy along but had some oil pressure probs.[attachment=2]

The black bug is decked out with Porsche 356 parts: engine, gearbox, brakes, seats and much more. Very subtle car.[attachment=3]

Latest DFL member Christian "Kreutzi" Kreutzmann in his yukon yellow '60 had his first run ever. The car is propelled by a JPMotorsport build 2332 cc Type 1.[attachment=4]

And last but not least, after a long weekend, some burgers at our club booth![attachment=1]

Thanks for coming everybody, thanks for the fantastic pictures Andi, and we hope to see some more participants from all over Europe next time!

I try to find out for you. It's a 67 as far as I know and yes, has the wrong engine lid. Engine is a Udo Becker build 2276, but don't know much more.

Hope to have some info tomorrow!
Cheers,

Georg

And it's a '66, and the engine bits are from Udo, Dirk bolted it together on his own.  :)

So the DFL402 Cal Look trophy, is it a one off/annual event or a series similar to the DRKC? Looks fun!

Now that got me some nice gosebumps.  8) Thank`s Ron you are always welcome!

@Dirk: Cool that you even attended thois year. Sadly I couldn`t be there cause of health issues.
You should ckeck your rear setup. 2,1sec@60ft is too low for your combo. I even made constant 2,1sec@60ft with my 1776 in the notch with streettires. Try some NEW pirelli tires they are very soft and give some nice grip!

Hi Felix
I hope you are healthy now and i will see you at Bitburg this season.

Yes 2.1 60ft time is very slow. I will change the camber from 2,5 degree to 0. Then i will chance from red koni to blistein . I have some used one to test. But the tires are the live insurance for my stock gearbox i think. I don't have the money to change the gearbox this year too.

Some ideas for a good setup are welcome.

Dirk
