Title: Drag Racing In Scotland - Cal Look style
Post by: Brother Lovedub on June 21, 2010, 18:28:15 pm
Picture the scene, Father's day in the East of Scotland, sun shining on 'Golf Country', good friends and good chat for a little outing of some Lookers to stretch their legs on the track.

A great day was had by all, backed up by some decent times on a less that optimal track, but happy days indeed  ;D

£15 for the day, as many runs as you want if you pick a RWYB day. :)

I've been on holiday to Fife - Gran had a holiday appartment up there - and drove my bone stock '60 bug from Sheffield to Edinburgh, dropped a mate off and then on to Fife. Three days later drove from Fife to Wolverhampton, and I'm sure it was more than 3000 miles. I think New York to LA would have been quicker... :o :D

Great photo's, looks like it was a great day!

The drive up's not too bad (I did Madeley (Cheshire) to Aberdeen, Perth and Milngavie and then back home in two days this week - as well as working at each site I went to)... the guys north of the border have been making the trip down to the Pod for years - even the smaller journey down to York raceway is still a big one.

I'll be at the next one!

How many cars would we need to bring to book an all vw day???

That last day was 'branded' a Seat day, I'm sure they'll have a VW day on the calendar, might just need to have a word wth the organisers and set aside an air-cooled section.........?

As Peter says, if we could get a dozen cars that would be a decent start, not too far for the Lothian guys to travel.

Think this should happen, if we can confirm available dates we can see
How many guys can make it.
Be a laugh anyway!

I wouldn't bother about worrying about the lothians if the track was in their back garden they would struggle. ;)

If the Aircooled eliminator guys/girls were given notice they would turn up  :)

Turning up and making it our day is the best option. IMHO

I'll have a run up. I've heard too many stories from DTH not to give it a go!

Whats the quickest ET a VW has posted there? And overall, how quick has any car gone there?

Crail have confirmed the opening day of the season as 20th February 2011 with events every two weeks thereafter.

Unfortunately there are no further details as these are currently being worked on, however as soon as they come out they'll be posted on their Facebook page and website.

Dates for April would be 3rd & 17th and might give an early chance to 'stretch the legs' on our cars before the 2011 show season......?  Hopefully benefit from some glorious Scottish spring weather as well  ;)

Niel Davies,

Do you live in  Sheffield?  I spent some time there in the past. Lived in a little bungalow in Chesterfield and used to drive to Sheffield for business.  I got all about that area, including York, Scarborough, Bridlington, Hull, etc.  Sure miss the area. Loved it when living there.
