Title: Late Looker time warp Post by: 71CALRIPPER on June 24, 2010, 07:46:17 am Short story got a call from a mate saying hes just picked up a nice cal look 68 bug, thought nothing of it untill he told me the spec and condition. Left it a week to contact him back but it had already sold pending pick up. Gutted !!! Got a call early this week saying its back up for sale come take a look, well what can I say few alterations to bring it back to standard but its a late lookers dream for me.
Bought it as my daily car ( I dont drive to work ) Got so much History with this car and cant wait to get stuck in... (http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m38/54oval/100_1339.jpg) (http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m38/54oval/08062010004.jpg) Empi GTV wheel (http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m38/54oval/08062010008.jpg) 2110 makes lots of power above 2k but may need to swap for a less wild 1776 or something. (http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m38/54oval/08062010006.jpg) Anyway plans are just to update it a little but keep it how it was, I will post more photos later and some of all the plack to show its been too. Hope you like Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: jamiep_jamiep on June 24, 2010, 09:05:16 am Nice!

Few odd jobs and she will be right as rain :) Nice seeing some History One thing I am not keen on is the big turbo Muffler Rob Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: vwcab on June 24, 2010, 11:29:54 am Nice car dude,I like it a lot. :)
Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: 71CALRIPPER on June 24, 2010, 11:58:31 am Just doing some reading..It was a Semi Auto soooo shes a Ball joint front end with factory IRS rear end. Not to shabby me thinks :)
Need a different shifter cant stand the Scat shifters so need something period correct..? Rob Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: beetletom on June 24, 2010, 13:42:53 pm scat shifter is period correct to late 80's! but probably a berg would be better?
is the turbo muffler for sale? a twin quietpack would look spot on! 8) if so, how much?? Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: 71CALRIPPER on June 24, 2010, 14:20:33 pm Ello Tom, hmmm Scat I dunno dude just doesnt do it for me, but got a Berg for the 67 doesnt really matter right now though.
The 2110 will prob be sold turnkey so my Mrs can drive the car as well. If it doesnt I will let you know.. Tom any idea how much Empi Bumper Overriders are worth..? Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: roland on June 24, 2010, 14:27:07 pm Those over-riders are cool! they really add to a great looking car I think!
Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: beetletom on June 24, 2010, 17:03:42 pm no idea on the overiders, but guess £50-100?
i'm sure someone on here got a set for £50 or about they suit it though, looks proper us spec got a pic of your new 67?? that 1776 from your old red 67 would of been perfect for this! Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: Lids on June 24, 2010, 17:41:40 pm I think i would just leave it alone, you have a habit of starting something and then selling it!
Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: 71CALRIPPER on June 24, 2010, 19:18:14 pm The overriders are my only gripe, and I have grown up alot and this is my only car soo its got to work to get me about :)
Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: Lids on June 24, 2010, 19:25:10 pm I personally like the over riders, swap the header to a dual set up and it would look perfect. Change the cb tower to perhaps berg or csp. but that's it. Don't do what i keep doing which is to keep upgrading and upgrading and never get it on the road. If you wanna loose the over riders, stick them in a box for a while and see how you feel. Don't flog them. (unless its to me :) )
Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: Nico86 on June 24, 2010, 22:21:36 pm Cool car !

Mike I agree..Will stash some stuff and keep 99% as is... Its not to keep wanting bigger and better when your able to do it, its human nature.. So she followed me home last night, really needs the jetting sorting out cough fart splut then WHOOOOOP lol (http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m38/54oval/IMG_4760.jpg) Uk shows anyone? (http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m38/54oval/IMG_4759.jpg) Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: tonser on June 25, 2010, 06:17:57 am Looks great Rob - alot better than you described on the phone !!!

The 2110 will prob be sold turnkey so my Mrs can drive the car as well. If it doesnt I will let you know.. Tom any idea how much Empi Bumper Overriders are worth..? I would be interested in a trade with my 1776cc for your 2110. PM me or call if you still have my number! Lee Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: 71CALRIPPER on July 05, 2010, 16:39:14 pm Well just back from Holiday few odd jobs to do before Bug jam but shes all good for her MOT on saturday..
Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: 71CALRIPPER on July 07, 2010, 11:51:36 am MOT on saturday after that will tune and sort the engine..
Then New carpet and if the budget streches a new LHD Padded dash ( but there is not rush ) The Mrs Really doesnt like the Scat shifter and doesnt want a Berg...So a EMPI EZR shifter will do if i can find one. Rob Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: Bryan67 on July 07, 2010, 14:52:55 pm And s different steering wheel would be good too. But hey, it`s your car.

Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: streetvw on July 07, 2010, 16:15:37 pm I Agree dude not sure what though dude IMHO one of these would look great in that car (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v493/streetvw/ebay%20stuff/Nardi%20Classic/DSCN0425.jpg) Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: 71CALRIPPER on July 07, 2010, 20:57:22 pm Where does one find one of these :)
ROb Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: streetvw on July 07, 2010, 23:22:27 pm Where does one find one of these :) ROb you can get one from here http://www.neweraparts.com/Default.aspx?tabid=54&CategoryID=207&List=0&Level=a&ProductID=491 but they ain't cheap at £336 or http://www.nengun.com/nardi/classic-leather-steering-wheels they sem a bit cheaper or you can keep an eye on Ebay it was with much regret that I sold mine on there a couple of years ago another good alternative would be a 3 spoke formuling france wheel now that would be period perfect for your car Title: Re: Late Looker time warp Post by: bluestar on July 08, 2010, 15:42:33 pm some's on E-Bay : NARDI STEERING WHEELS...
