Oh man! I'm having flashbacks! Went to school with Mark and that car was notorious! He could nearly keep up with my Yamaha RD350 from  stop to stop! Mark needs to pick this up and throw one of his infamous turbo motors in.

Agreed, Mark should be the one to buy this car, for sure! And get it back to it's glory, HELL YA!! I bet Marks phone is ringing off the hook!

Mark knows about it. He mentioned it at classic but didn't seem too interested.

We were chatting bout' this car on Sat. I don't have memories from when Mark owned it, but I do from the late nineties and all the street racing with it's later owner. I remember when I first met Chad; he saw me in my first '62 with centerlines out cruising and ran my ass down. He wanted to run me on Santa Ana Canyon road. I was stopped at Mohler? and S.A. Canyon and I could hear the(first) 1914 screaming to get to the light before it went green. Also, looking in the rear view at the black hood and rear fenders(fiberglass) I knew this "Darrell" wanted to run! He did make the light. He got next to me and thru a few revs.......and then, the coolest thing I'd ever seen........he pops the clutch a wee bit (like Mason), and pulls the front wheels with a 235 radial out back. I got a glimpse of the centerlines out my pass window. Knees rattling, I knew I had nothing with my over carbbed 1835. I just wanted to see this thing in action. Gave him a little "wing wing" and he was gone on the green. That  car is so fun to watch make a pass. something about it, no matter 1641 or a 2 liter, it ALWAYS ran like a raped ape. It is for sure one of those lite cars that is set up. After the tail lights episode, Chad and I pulled over and chatted it up. Good friends for a while. Some personal stuff got to him. Not sure of the story now. I had an opportunity to buy the car back in the day, but I thought it was to far gone and missing parts. What a dildo to let it go looking back. From the Samba pics, looks like the car is still around the corner from my house. Many long nights down Mariloma with the boys and beers. Definitely a high light for me. Sorry for the ramble.

The wheels seem to be turning that way. I am waiting for a call now. Bill, if you can give me a call I would appreciate it.

Thanks
