Title: "Aronson" decklid, hinges. Any pictures? Post by: Andi/DFL on March 06, 2007, 13:20:30 pm hi,
does anybody have a picture of the aronson car with open rear decklid? fabien? :-) I'd like to know, how he attached the hinges to the fiberglass decklid. I really hate the look of these racecar fasteners and like the idea of using some sheets of fiberglass to mold original hinges to the lid. I'd also like to keep the original spring to keep the lid open. What about the lock (early type t-handle)? I suppose the fiberglass may be too weak for that? Thanks, Andi Title: Re: "Aronson" decklid, hinges. Any pictures? Post by: Olaf A./DFL on March 06, 2007, 13:22:14 pm so you went for that lid?

Title: Re: "Aronson" decklid, hinges. Any pictures? Post by: richarzzz on March 06, 2007, 14:50:27 pm hi andi and mates,
mike from mainspeed produced some eyebraw lids with fittings inside to use the original moldings. his phone nr. is: 0049-172-6105155, maybee he is able to complete some other lids with these moldings or reproduce a new lid. kind regards jens Title: Re: "Aronson" decklid, hinges. Any pictures? Post by: Andi/DFL on March 06, 2007, 15:14:12 pm yes, my main concern was the spring. too bad. glassing in the hinges to the decklid should not be the problem, as I have quite some experience with fiberglass. still not sure about the handle. maybe convert the lock from the front lid. still looks better than fasteners.
damn, I really like to open the lid and it just stays open without my wife holding it :-) Title: Re: "Aronson" decklid, hinges. Any pictures? Post by: speedwell on March 06, 2007, 16:16:09 pm yes andy i 've this for you but the rear apron is black and difficult to watch something ::)

Title: Re: "Aronson" decklid, hinges. Any pictures? Post by: cedorUSA on March 06, 2007, 23:30:31 pm yes andy i 've this for you but the rear apron is black and difficult to watch something ::) is that a light built into enginelid? that sure would be good for werking on my motor when its dark out. or is that a cooling hole. that would be good to for my big motor cause it gets real hot in this part of the desirt, way out in ridgcrest. im guessing you can buy a unevirsal light at pepboys or grand auto and glue it in there huh. Title: Re: "Aronson" decklid, hinges. Any pictures? Post by: Cornpanzer on March 07, 2007, 04:39:56 am Why not get a damaged lid and drill out the entire steel upper inner structure (the area where the hinges and spring mount) and then glass this whole piece in. If the hinges and the spring are attached to the same piece of inner structure, they will not be "fighting" to seperate the lid from the hinges
Title: Re: "Aronson" decklid, hinges. Any pictures? Post by: christophe on March 11, 2007, 22:26:45 pm There is one more thing I wonder.
What was use for the license plate illumination? If you look in the "bible",is it the same on greg aronson's car and rick winter's car? Title: Re: "Aronson" decklid, hinges. Any pictures? Post by: Andi/DFL on March 11, 2007, 22:37:34 pm I've seen license plate holders for motorbikes including the light that look very similar. You can also get the light seperately.
