with my karmann, while heavy turning, the tires rub in the arches, some time ago i saw this pic, and shoot me, but i like what they ve done.. imagine that car with fuchs, M&H dots and without the spoiler ;D so, did they weld in new arches or is there a way how to do this? cheers, Peter Title: Re: Rollin out the arches Post by: Zach Gomulka on July 13, 2010, 18:30:13 pm Those are welded (or glassed) in. You need a narrowed beam, or smaller tires, or wheels with less offset, or, or, or... ;)

my buddy has a special tool to roll out your arches a few mm's... I think a cm max is possible! You mount this tool on your wheelstuds and then you can roll out your arches a few mm's... Pretty simple to do but it will take you a few hours of work for all your arches. He used it a few times for his golf gti arches to fit "tief und breit" wheels and it works like a charm and it's not visible... So you won't end up with typical "tuning style car arches" call me if you want more info. ;) Dem Title: Re: Rollin out the arches Post by: Neil Davies on July 14, 2010, 09:37:09 am My Ghia had been hit very lightly in the front a couple of times and the arches were split in a couple of places. With a stock width beam, MWS 8-spokes and 145 tyres it would catch on one side but not the other - the one tyre had a series of tears around where the tread joins the sidewall. What I did was firstly to give me more clearance, but secondly to repair the damage to the arches. I took a piece of 6mm round bar and bent it to fit into the arch. I welded it every 50mm or so, then rolled the arch lip around it and welded the lip to the bar too, in between the other welds. It gave me about 8mm of extra clearance and got rid of a sharp edge to rub on the tyre. It also made the front end so strong that I could lift the car up to fit a trolley jack under the beam, just by grabbing on the arch and pulling upwards! You try doing that with a stock Ghia... ;)
