Title: Awh nut's & wheel studs
Post by: Black Sheep on August 01, 2010, 18:21:43 pm
OK little help here please  :)
I'm looking to put some 12mm studs in my drums to bolt some MWS BRM's to .
Found the studs I want no problem but the wheels have 15mm holes for the bolts / studs .
Looking about for some sleeved nuts with a 30 degree washer all I can find are 41/64' bolts which work out at 16.27mm .
Anyone got any idea's as I don't want to run without sleeves and risk the wheels slapping about on the threads .
I'm sure I must be missing something here  ::)
I've seen guys running what look like a brass looking cadnam plated nut on a stud looks very pro  8) all I seem to able to find is either silver or nasty chrome  ???

 HELP  :)

Just curious, why are you using 12mm studs? 14mm would be easier.

Just the size of the drum thread's , never thought about opening them up and using 14mm

14mm stud conversion Glen, Alex has done it on both my cars  ;)

Machine 7 were great when it came to advice on nuts, studs, bolts etc

I didn't know there is a problem with that. The holes in the wheels are always bigger then the studs thread. It's the nut that holds the rim to the drum. I run my wheels like that.

Glenn, MWS wheels have a 60 degree taper on the holes so you don't need sleeved nuts, alternatively get them machined to accept Boom Booms inserts ;D
