Post by: Sam K on August 08, 2010, 19:59:55 pm
I'm looking for a chromed license plate light for a '69 beetle. I think anything from '67 and later will work. Thanks!

You can just have an original one polished... they're aluminium ;)

I know, I'm not usually a fan of anything chrome that the good people at Volkswagen didn't put there but trust me it will look good. It's going on my youngest brother's '69 bug which I've been helping him build with a "70's" theme. It's lowered a liitle in front and has 8 spokes fairly fat tires all around. It has bumper guards, chrome taililight housings and a ton of VDO cockpit gauges too. W just picked up an EMPI fiberglass hood for it and I'm trying to talk him into some side scoops and maybe a c-stripe kit as well. We picked it up a a police impound auction a couple years ago and between craigslist, swap mmets and my castoff parts we've pretty much built the whole car. I thought about stripping and polishing the light, but the upkeep on polished aluminum parts on a DD that lives outside is a nightmare.
