Title: Repo Alloy question...
Post by: DKK Ted on August 11, 2010, 19:07:50 pm
On the Flat4 and the new Empi Alloy's, which ones are closer to original offset to the early Alloy's? AND which is the most preferred. The new Empi ones do look good, just wondering about the offset. Thanks.

the empi alloys are 45mm from center of wheel to bolting surface. I dont know what flat four are, or what originals are

Thanks Randy, trying to figure out what to do. have a set of real Alloys, late ones though. Can't afford the real early ones so was thinking of selling my lates to finace either the Flat4's or Empi ones. Was thinking a set of 5 1/2's, cause of my 2" narrow beam, don't want the sucked in look of the 4 1/2. But then again I do have a stock width beam with adjuster from JC from along time ago. That's why I'm looking for some input on these. Somebody must have bought a set of Empi's, I've seen the Flat4's on Scotts Ghia and Dustins 69', and they both look good. Just that I seen the Empi's at Bug-In 35 and they look pretty good. Cheaper!

I don`t think I would sell real alloys (Late or not) for some fakes.

Original 5.5's have 42mm of offset.

I agree - keep the original alloys!

I recently went thru what you're considering (not really in favor of the "sucked in" look either). I opted to try the newly released repops from EMPI. I have to say I'm pleased with over all finish - Only time will tell how they'll survive the (somewhat :o) harsh climate offered here in Sweden ::) ;D.

With the 42mm off set and 5" width I personally think they fit nicely under the front wings (2" narrowed beam) - A few pix @ www.acswede.blogspot.com which may give you an idea of the fit.

I also agree on the Alloy's. I also have a set of 14" Alloy's, a pair are polished and painted. Ya, you guy's are right, I have plenty of spare parts to sell to acquire the repo's. ACSwede, the wheels are cool, but that car is very cool, NICE!
Thanks guy's for the info. and advise.

WELL???  ;D

Well, I suggest that I buy you a set of whatever wheels you want (that you mentioned) then you hand over your late 6" alloys and we're even.

Don't be shy with your answer.
