It was a great run, and had James of not lifted (wuss :P  ;)) it would of been side by side 9's :)

Bernie also said at the the top just before we found out ' My back hurts, so i think it might of been a good run'

Next run they are both going for it again, Bernie has at least 0.6 to make up in his 60ft too !

Little Pete is busy working on his jets, our last run together was me with a 11.499 and Pete with a 11.500 we could see each other pretty much changing gear !

:)

Drama at Shakey - this from Eurodragster:

"15:50
Outlaw Flat Four qualifying after session 4:
We had a huge downpour after the first pair. Drama on the re-start as Adele Woodbridge's Beetle turned hard left and spun in front of Peter Shattock's car, hitting the guardrail rear end first. Peter was able to take avoiding action. Adele is A-OK as is Peter. Some oil to clear up and then we'll be off again.

   1. Bernie Newbury 9.886/134.15
   2. James Wotton 10.089/138.43
   3. Adele Woodbridge 11.413/116.89
   4. Peter Shattock 11.500/114.60 "

Thanks for the concerns guys. Unfortunetly Eurodragsters comments were somewhat undertone as to the outcome.

The car took a sharp left due to unknown reasons.. possibly down to the track/wind however there was nothing out of place on the car, peter already got a little out of shape and thank god he stamped on the brakes otherwise i would of took him out completely.

The car hit the armco in the other lane at about 105-110 MPH then it spun 360 and hit the front right side before coming to sit in the opposite lane to which i started.

As a consequnce the rear took all the impact, and thankfully due to Wayne Allman and Chris Isaacs great work with the rear end, it did not move, which meant the engine and gearbox took it all. Case completely spilt on the gearbox with the bellhousing ripped apart. Engine case is cracked, pulley bent, manifiold ripped off. The righ throttle body also took so much force from the armco (!) that it pushed it into the luggage panel.

Front wing is gone, right rear is gone, right rear wheel and slick gone left rear torn at the dzus fastner, valance gone, front wheel well  consatinered upon impact.

The shell/body is a OK. and the rest of the car not mentioned above. We can hopefully re-shell the gearbox and then take a look at thye engine and maybe re-case dependents on the insides/

My heartfelt thanks go out to all that helped me today, what a fantastic bunch. I am A OK, Steve is OK, we are just gutted.  :(

On an up note, Way to Go Bernie :)

What a nightmare :( As long as you have escaped unhurt that really is the main thing.

It has been a pleasure seeing your racecar evolve. I'm looking forward to seeing it back on the track. :)
I would like to make a donation towards the cause.
All I need is your paypal address

Hi All,

Thankyou for the comments and concerns and offers. Both Steve and I would not take any form of monetary donations, its just not us. We really appreciate it however, please do not think that we do not!! But we will do the same as we did before and save/spend as much as we can getting it back on the track where it belongs.

We are taking some time out now to asses where we go forward with the car, as most know the engine and box were up for sale
:-\ Matt, we may be in touch about some bits of fabrication, Thanks :)

However we will be back soon, harder and faster than before with a specially printer sticker just for the Wootang his-self ;)

I do not want pictures being pasted across the internet because to be honest i dont want to be reminded of it, so i will just post this one, for you too see, more as a testament to Wayne Allman and Chris Issacs work. The chassis did not move one mill, hence why the box and engine took the most of the impact. Looking at the timing ticket, we figure it was around 105-110MPH.

Thankyou from the bottom of my heart to all of you who helped me yesterday and with recovering the car!! You know who you are :) x Special thanks to little pete... too x

What a weekend. We share the highs and we share the lows. On the high thank you to everyone for the messages about my run, and the lows I know how Steve and Adele are feeling but knowing them they will turn the negatives round to positives. You know where we are. Bernie and Carol

Firstly, Adele/Steve

Glad that no-one was hurt, the car will repair so just make it faster..... not so sure you could of made it look any better anyway  ;)

If the Gasser Garage can help let me know, i have space up North and another container on the way in a few weeks from LA, so if you have any bits needing shipped back let Richie or Jo know soon.

Bernie, very well done almost as fast as your triming skills, way to go, what next ? will email you mag pics for the blue car next week, cheers

Russell

Well done Bernie fantastic time. Those wheelie bars certainly help point and shoot. Hope there wasn't too much wrong with the car not to make the final?

Steve/Adele- so sorry to hear about the incident, but glad you came out ok. Car doesn't look too bad just hope theres not too much damage to the motor. Doesn't bear thinking about if you had ended up on the grass!
