(http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d26/autohausdolby/Beetle/Beetle004.jpg) Thanks to Owen Warlow for bringing it all the way back North :) Hi nice car is that a 1960 -61 and whats the colour ?? Looks close to the colour of my November '59 regards ron Title: Re: So my new ride has arrived... Post by: autohausdolby on September 09, 2010, 12:38:10 pm It's a Swedish spec '64 - I think it's L87 Pearl white - I've not checked the code yet, I'm just waiting for a battery to arrive from the factor across the way then I'll get it in the workshop and have a poke around.
The interior is a place of great beauty, it's a 2 tone grey striped fabric and it's perfect :) Title: Re: So my new ride has arrived... Post by: Rocket Ron on September 09, 2010, 12:45:22 pm looks sweet
my 59 is flint grey with two tone blue and grey stripes with blue vinyl side and back whats your plans ?? big engine / wheels etc Title: Re: So my new ride has arrived... Post by: autohausdolby on September 09, 2010, 13:02:52 pm Like this:
(http://www2.cal-look.com/nostalgia/aronson1.jpg) :D But with side trim, no sunroof and a stock decklid and interior. I can't bring myself to ruin it's finest points :) Also, unless I win big in Vegas it'll probably be Flat 4 BRMs - I'll spend that money on Italian IDAs before I buy proper wheels :) I'm just going to sort the brakes and get it registered first though - I've never had a stock bug before so it'll be a new experience for me! We think it's been off the road since 1982 so stopping power isn't so great :o Title: Re: So my new ride has arrived... Post by: autohausdolby on September 09, 2010, 13:03:59 pm Oh, and the tiny 6 volt battery has just arrived so imma take it for a spin around the yard in a bit :)

Title: Re: So my new ride has arrived... Post by: PiL on September 09, 2010, 15:21:44 pm Matt
If you are planning to loose the side trim let me know. I have a space for some to go over the top of some Aussie flash trim. Cheers Title: Re: So my new ride has arrived... Post by: autohausdolby on September 09, 2010, 18:48:17 pm That side trim's going knowhere - I'm too much of a pussy to harm an original paint car like that ;D ;D

Title: Re: So my new ride has arrived... Post by: autohausdolby on September 10, 2010, 15:24:41 pm I'm painting new brake and steering bits - it has no brake hydraulics at the moment so I'm putting a set of cylinders, a master cylinder, front shoes and flexi hoses on it so it will stop as well as go. It's not very exciting photo wise I'm afraid.

Post by: jonathan on September 12, 2010, 22:39:27 pm I called round to Mats workshop on friday night to have a look round his latest purchase.....Its frickin' beautiful!
I spent about 5 minutes just opening and closing the doors, the interior is just perfect and the engine bay is thing of beauty! I will definetly be round again this week to make sure hes lowered it,sounded like he might have been having second thoughts. Title: Re: So my new ride has arrived... Post by: autohausdolby on September 14, 2010, 19:25:51 pm Are you removing the rear gravel guards? That would look cool. Not yet - they're rivetted on, the Sweedes just love accessories! It used to have a bank of spotlights on the front as well, rally style ;D Work has stopped play for now, customer's cars keep jumping the queue :) Title: Re: So my new ride has arrived... I'm sure it's going to look quite nice when you're able to get back to working on it. Looking forward to seeing progress pictures of it all. Such a beautiful car. Title: Re: So my new ride has arrived... Post by: autohausdolby on October 23, 2010, 13:51:09 pm Sorry for the lack of updates! A busy work schedule and the speed officialdom work at has seen to that. Today these arrived though:
(http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d26/autohausdolby/Beetle/Beetle017.jpg) The office: (http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d26/autohausdolby/Beetle/Beetle019.jpg) I've put about 20km on it in the last 24 hours, including a high speed dash to get to our workwear supplier before they shut for the weekend. Aside from spitting out a silencer It's a good job really as our "modern" company car (an '89 16 valve GTI) is temporarily out of action with a defective alternator pulley that Volkswagen have had to order from Germany. Here's the guilty Golf in question on the day the Bug was delivered. (http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d26/autohausdolby/Beetle/Beetle001.jpg) |
