Title: clearance problem Post by: nicolas on September 24, 2010, 09:05:08 am i am mocking up a 2276 with a vw journal crank, eagle porsche length rods and mahle 94B pistons.
the problem i found is that the rods and piston come against eachother at BTC. just bareley, but my question is do i sand of a bit on the piston (the edge of the skirt just above the pinboss) or do i sand down the cap of the rod. the rod seems to be coated, if these were stock(ish) rods i would sand them down, now i am biased. Title: Re: clearance problem Post by: DKK Ted on September 24, 2010, 09:26:30 am I would clearance the piston, but whatever you do, FYI, you'll need to re-balance the pistons after you've done clearance, unless you have not done that yet. But if picturing it right, do the pistons. Any pics you can post?

I would remove it from the piston ;) Title: Re: clearance problem Post by: nicolas on September 24, 2010, 13:29:26 pm my thought is going out to the pistons as well and indeed i need to weigh them in anyway. the rods are a matching set. i'll post pics later.
so off i am to the caves again. |
